Learning Together Childcare

Exploration in the playground is a HUGE part of our day in the toddler classroom. Outdoor experiences can provide an opportunity to explore, discover and appreciate the natural world, as well as be active, strengthen fine and gross motor movement skills, test physical limits and get messy!

Our preschool classroom has been filled with all things imagination! Through imaginative play children learn critical thinking skills, build expressive and receptive language, increase social skills, and learn how manage their emotions.

The Power of Stories.

Jack and the Beanstalk, The Three Little Pigs, and Goldilocks and the Three Bears, continue to shape generations of young minds, nurturing their development in many ways.

As they engaged in many learning opportunities and listen to these tales, they absorb language patterns, learn new words, and improve their communication skills. Characters in these stories often grapple with emotions such as fear, bravery, jealousy, and empathy, providing children with valuable lessons in emotional intelligence.

Stories ignite children’s imaginations, transporting them to fantastical worlds where anything is possible. By immersing themselves in these narratives, children exercise their creativity, inventiveness, laying the foundation for future artistic expression.

Toddlers in the kitchen through the wonderful world of literacy! We read many stories by Laura Numeroff and began our baking journey as the children placed their Chef hat on and started whipping up delicious foods that gave the children connections and a foundation of baking skills.

This week’s inspirations gave our children a sense of belonging, expression, basic math concepts, language skills, self confidence, and motor skills. The children gained confidence in their baking as they made their own pizzas, whipped up some cookies and used their imaginations during dramatic play baking yummy foods. We look forward to hearing all about their culinary experiences at home with their families after sharing in their experiences here at Learning Together Childcare.

Learning through experiences is how learning happens, and over the last few weeks the children were able to do so by exploring through play, learning through discussions and stories and sharing family experiences.

As we learn about the many traditions and celebrations during this time of year, on Friday our preschool classroom made Latkes! As a tradition to celebrate Chanukah, Latkes were made by all our children. They had so much fun chopping the potatoes and combining all the ingredients to mix together, to then bake in our kitchen. The wonderful aroma filled our centre with delight as everyone enjoyed eating their homemade Latkes.

In the month of October the preschool children have been busy learning about fall and all the changes throughout this month. To begin the fun, we explored apples and all the different kinds grown locally, to exploring with leaves and changes that occur during this season. To get into spirits the children carved their Jack-o-lanterns and engaged in a fun Halloween dance, some trick or treating in the classroom and marched in our centres parade around the neighbourhood.

The children in our toddler classroom learn and grow more and more each day while they engage with materials, socialize with peers and explore the class!
