Hello again!

I just finished recording a podcast episode with Peggy O’Neil, who hosts the Saturday morning radio and podcast show called ‘Food For The Future’ that broadcasts across Southern Ontario, and has many American listeners tuning in. To hear more about Fresh Food Weekly’s plans for the upcoming Research Study so far, make sure to tune in this Saturday morning! (April 13th)

Peggy brings the Humanities lens to today’s food dialogue by showcasing everyday people making a difference in agri-food. This show is part of the series: Waste Not, which focuses on creativity and community development in agri-food across Canada. The topics of discussion for this show is: Communities in action toward food security.

Good morning,

I would like to give a very special thank you to The Kiwanis Club of Barrie for donating $1500 to Fresh Food Weekly’s ‘Easter Bunny Baskets for Kids’ fundraiser!

Thanks to the Kiwanis Club and the support from you guys, Fresh Food Weekly was able to provide 42 Easter Baskets to low-income families this year.

I know this improved the depression levels of the moms. Thank you for showing them that they and their children matter.

Thank you for caring about their existence ❤️.

Good morning everyone,

I’m finally done all the Easter Bunny Baskets for Kids!

I decided to keep the items loose in the bag because I figured the parents will need to open them up anyways to hide the eggs, candy and toy.

So I’m looking for some volunteer drivers to help deliver some of these….. one driver is needed for Innisfil.

If you’re free to help out, please send me a PM… pickup is at 380 Duckworth street ☺️.

Delivery is supposed to be on Thursday, March 28th, but if you’re available sooner, I’m sure recipients could be available to receive them sooner (I’ll coordinate schedules with everyone). I’m giving these out to recipients in my building today as well (if they’re home… I’ve already delivered three this morning 🥰).

Thank you for any help with delivering these Easter baskets! 🙏🤗

Thank you very much Angela LaRoque Savo for donating +40 Easter Bunny Baits to our baskets this year 🙏❤️

Aren’t these Chug Jugs super cute!?

The labels were $0.69 each on Amazon (pack of 25), and the Gatorade was on sale at Walmart for $0.81 each.

These only cost $1.50 each to make and it was very easy to do. I just heat-shrank the labels on with my hair dryer 😆.

Each boy will be getting a Fortnite Chug Jug in Fresh Food Weekly’s Easter Bunny Baskets for Kids 😃… and a few girls will get one too!

Niah is a really good Easter bunny helper. She knows exactly what kids like since she has four siblings between the ages of 1 and 10.

She made some sound judgement calls for Fresh Food Weekly’s upcoming Bunny Baskets tonight. 🥰

Good evening everyone,

Over the last three days, I gathered up a ton of pictures, videos, dates, etc., to illustrate where all of Fresh Food Weekly’s money came from.

Here’s a list of locations within our area, that identify the local organizations, charities, funders, grantors, and companies with charitable programs, who supported the Fresh Food Weekly program over the last two years.

This list doesn’t include donations from companies without charitable programs, or individuals. This map showcases how supportive this city really is.

Going through this reminded me how much our community really does care ❤️

… it also doesn’t feel like two years went by 🫣

Good morning everyone,

Although Fresh Food Weekly won’t be doing fresh food deliveries for this year, it doesn’t mean we stopped caring about the needs of our program recipients.

There were 76 children enrolled on the program last month and since we require recipients to provide proof of income, we know that these children won’t be visited by the this year unless friends or family step up to provide everything they need.

That’s why we’re giving members in our the opportunity to sponsor a child from the Fresh Food Weekly program with a Kid’s Easter Bunny Basket this year for $40.

Deliveries will take place on Thursday, March 28th between 4-5pm.
