Tonight, I set foot in Nantyr Shores for the last time as a member of Parent Council. After 16 years (14 of those as Chair or Co-Chair), this chapter has officially come to an end.

I’ve had so much fun over the years and made incredible friendships with fellow parents—memories I’ll truly cherish forever.

Being part of council is one of the easiest and most rewarding ways to get involved in your child’s school. If you’ve ever thought about joining… do it. You won’t regret it.

A huge thank you to all the staff, administration, and parent members for everything you do each and every year to support our students. It truly makes a difference. ❤️

Do you have a student at Nantyr Shores? Tonight is the last parent council meeting of the year! Come and find out what we have been up to this year to help support the students!!

I had the privilege of joining fellow Councillor Zanella and Mayor Lynn Dollin in Parry Sound over the past couple of days for the OSUM Conference.

This was my first time attending, and I really appreciated the smaller, more intimate setting compared to conferences like AMO and ROMA. It created a great environment to connect, listen, and learn from a wide range of speakers and municipal leaders.

The conference venue is also home to the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame, so Linda and I took some time to explore it and learn more about Parry Sound’s history—which was a nice added bonus.

Although I have enjoyed all the different sessions and speakers today’s were especially impactful. I had the opportunity to hear thoughtful discussions on homelessness, as well as a panel on building inclusive communities featuring Mayor Dollin. We also heard from the CEO of our library during a “Community Innovators” session, highlighting the incredible programs and services our library offers to residents.

Grateful for the opportunity to learn, connect, and bring new ideas back to our community.

Yep, pothole season is definitely here. 😅 While crews have been making temporary repairs to keep roads safe through the colder months, we’re gearing up for our annual :

🗓️ Starts May 4
🌤️ Runs over approximately 12 dry-weather days
✔️ Goal to fill 900 logged potholes

Now that warmer weather is here and the local asphalt plant is reopening, crews can switch to hot mix asphalt. This allows repairs to properly bond with the road surface, making them much more durable and longer-lasting than what we can do in the winter.

🚧 When passing crews on the road, please drive with caution and follow posted signage where temporary closures may be in place.

If you spot a pothole, report it to Customer Service:
