Local Source Market
Neighbourhood Green Grocer/Local Source Bakery/Lion & Bright Kitchen(Take Away)/Root Cellar/Greenhouse Retailer/QC&Atlantic Cheese Deli/Cacao, Choco&Coffee
Hey Halifax! Thanks for showing up… to support, to offer a hand or just a kind message. We’re not out of the woods, Eastlink isn’t able to set our internet up on a Sunday (🤷♀️) so we’re hot spotting and borrowing from neighbors to open today at 2:00pm. Please be patient with the team today as we hobble to the holiday finish line ❤️❤️Also!! Turkeys are ready to go to their new home!
Today is our busiest day of the year and unfortunately, our power is out.
A fallen tree pulled the line right from the pole that feeds our building, leaving us without electricity while our fridges are full and our doors should be open.
This weekend’s sales matter deeply to our small business and our local producers. We’ve been preparing for weeks. The lost revenue from will be a real blow.
We’ll share updates as soon as we have them. We’ll get the generator running and turkeys will be safe.
Thank you for being part of this community and for supporting local when it matters most.
👻 🍝 what’s your favourite christmas movie?!

Local Source totes have been restocked, and our shelves are full of self care, home goods, and of course delicious food!
It’s spooky season! 🎃
A small selection of pumpkins have arrived at Local Source. With the drought this summer, pumpkins are hard to come by!

TIME TO BROC & ROLL! You may have noticed the punny signs at the corner of Almon and Windsor St. hinting at a new beginning. Well it’s time to officially spill the organic beans - Local Source Market is opening a new location at 2790 Windsor St.
“This feels like Halifax’s worst kept secret! Yes, it’s Local Source Market! We’re joining the West End neighbourhood and we’re bringing the good eggs,”says owner, operator, and Annapolis Valley native, Krista Armstrong. “I’m so delighted to show everyone what Local Source Market has grown to be. It feels like I’m having another child and I want everyone to meet them.”
With continued interest in online orders, Krista had her eyes on the old gas station as it provides the perfect space for easy curbside pickups. Inside, there’s much more room for activities. The new location will have an expanded fridge capacity, room for bulk package free shopping and a full display of Local Source’s prepared foods & bakery. There are also plans for pop-ups and other events that will continue to foster community.
Additionally, they are teaming up with Boxing Rock Brewing Company once again to host their on-site nanobrewery, bottle shop, and growler fill station.
For those who don’t like change, don’t fear! The 2530 Agricola St. steadfast location will remain open to champion a vibrant and dynamic food culture while providing a premium guest experience.
“Our suppliers have been so happy for us and the growth,” says Krista. “They are all enthusiastic to reach a greater population through us.

My Seany spent his formative years in South Africa.
As we were decompressing last night after another day of worry, he told me about a story of he and his younger sisters waiting in line each day for bread. The line would be at least 100 people long at the local grocery store.
Each family would get two loaves. No more than that.
They would wait every day. It’s just how it was. They had to wait for the good stuff.
So, this is my kind reminder that today we will be unable to save bread for you. There will be a line up, but it won’t be 100 people long.
Bread and any baked goods that aren’t pre-sold will be first come first served.
Thanks for understanding. We’re doing our best in a very scary situation.
We appreciate your support in this.
