Black Sabbath was the first metal band. 🤘 Full stop.

Not just the first to sound heavy—but the first to define what metal even meant.

They took the blues and changed into something REVOLUTIONARY.

Tritones. Distortion. Dissonance. Doom. Power. The kind of music that made people uncomfortable because it had never existed before.

They created metal.
And Ozzy Osbourne was its voice.

Today we lost more than a rock/metal legend—we lost the frontman of the band that invented a genre. There would be no Metallica, no Slayer, no doom, stoner, thrash, or death metal without Sabbath. Without Ozzy.

When I was about 14, I read a Guitar World article about Randy Rhoads being classically trained. I became obsessed. Randy wasn’t in Sabbath—but he played with Ozzy, and that was enough for me.

Randy Rhoads is the reason I went and got a whole degree in classical guitar. Because I’m a metalhead—and I believed (and still believe) that every real metalhead should understand the theory & history behind the power. 🎸
