FOUNDATION DRAINAGE | Pretty simple process..

1. Apply a tar coating to provide damproofing.
2. Install a perforated perimeter drain that drains to daylight or a sump.
3. Install a drainage layer like dimple from Delta MS to prevent water from sitting against the foundation and bring driven inward through hydrostatic pressure.
4. Cover drainage tile in clear washed stone to maximize drainage
5. Wrap stone and tile mixture in filter fabric to prevent silt from clogging drainage tile
6. Backfill with good draining material
7. Enjoy a dry, comfortable basement for generations!!

DRAINAGE- We are always talking about providing good drainage for the protection and durability of our buildings.

This 1880’s house is a great example of how a foundation with basically zero frost protection can survive for nearly 150 years.

Would you build this?… mockups are an excellent way to develop sequencing strategies and assembly feasibility.

This mockup, displays a vented rain screen system decoupled from a vented over-roof protecting a monopoly framed enclosure.

Demo is essentially house surgery. On this project, we are removing one half of the house so that we can accommodate a new addition with some necessary improvements.

Bringing heavy equipment into the picture definitely makes the process more intense. Carful attention to detail is key when preparing the remaining structure so it remains protected from both debris as well as water infiltration.
