Behind every counter, every business page, every photo and every post is a person.

This photo is an old one — me and a very little Jaxon at Cravings. ❤️

Looking at it now, I know the whole story surrounding this moment. But anyone else looking at it only sees a photograph.

And maybe that’s something worth remembering about people, too.

We see such tiny pieces of one another.

We don’t see the people they love, the things they worry about, the battles they’re quietly fighting, the mistakes they’ve learned from, the things they’re proud of, or everything it took for them to simply show up that day.

Especially online, it’s incredibly easy to form an opinion about someone from one tiny piece of their story.

Our words may only take seconds to say or type, but sometimes they stay with someone much longer than that.

So perhaps we can all remember one simple thing:

There is a human being on the other side of our words.
