CFUW Georgetown's Couples Outing Group enjoyed a fun evening at the races. The weather was fine, the horses were beautiful and the company superb. A few even brought winnings home!

CFUW Georgetown's Book Club 2 shared thoughts on Shelley Wood's The Leap Year Gene that weaves together elements of historical fiction and medical fantasy, and ever present family dynamics when a child is "different." Ours is a hybrid gathering with distant members joining in the discussion on zoom.

CFUW Georgetown's 55th Anniversary was acknowledged at the Ontario Council AGM & Conference May 23rd in Peterborough ON, marking a significant milestone in our Club's history. It was a special pleasure to celebrate this achievement among kindred Ontario Clubs.

After a five-kilometre trek to track down trilliums on local trails, CFUW Georgetown's Thursday Hikers relaxed with a hot drink and treat at their favourite terminus, Heather's Bakery Cafe.

On May 5th, Red Dress Day, CFUW Georgetown hosted a round table discussion of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and its final Report, entitled Reclaiming Power and Place to inform and honour all the lives impacted.

Flicks, in pursuit of less alarming film ghosts this month, turned to Coco, a funny and heart-warming Pixar film from 2017 about a Mexican boy who is aided by his family of ghosts in achieving his musical ambitions and in righting a wrong. Disappointed to find that there is bureaucracy even in the Land of the Dead.

The Brideship Wife brings to life a largely unknown corner of our "pre-Canada" history. Women, both the poor and the genteel, were offered a chance to start afresh in the wilds of British Columbia, presumptively with marriage to lonesome sons of the Empire. It generated wide ranging discussion over wondrous and aromatic "blooming" artisan tea.

CFUW Georgetown's All-Seasons Thursday Hikers spotted an additional harbinger of Spring, the Trout Lily, native to Ontario thriving in moist woodlands, here in the local hiking mecca, the Limehouse Trail system.
