📣IRCC Update: Home Care Worker Pilot Paused

Dec 19, 2025 — Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has paused new applications for the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilot to focus on processing existing files.

👉 What should potential applicants do?

✔ Do not submit new applications during the pause
✔ Regularly check the IRCC website for reopening updates
✔ Prepare requirements in advance (IELTS/CELPIP, ECA, work experience)

🩺 Alternative for applicants with nursing background

Applicants with nursing education or experience may qualify under Express Entry, including:
• Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
• Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
• Healthcare category-based Express Entry draws

📌 Eligibility depends on language scores, education, work experience, and licensing.

📢🇨🇦 Parents and Grandparents Program Sponsorship 🧓🧑‍🦳🧒🧑

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will accept up to 10,000 sponsorship applications for the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) in 2025. Due to a backlog of 2020 interest-to-sponsor forms, IRCC will randomly select potential sponsors from that pool rather than accepting new forms, continuing the process used from 2020 to 2024.

Processing times are about 24 months for applicants outside Quebec and 48 months for Quebec-bound applicants. IRCC adjusts application numbers based on Canada’s immigration targets.

For those unable to submit a sponsorship form, the super visa allows parents and grandparents to visit for up to 5 years at a time, with multiple entries for up to 10 years.
