Great Canadian Solar installs photovoltaic (PV) energy systems that provide solar electricity to hom
We design, procure, and construct grid-connected and grid-isolated photovoltaic (PV) energy systems for residential, agricultural, commercial, industrial, First Nations, and municipal clients
Since 2009, we have installed hundreds of systems in Western Canada, totalling close to 100 MW of clean power. We have also engineered and developed stand-alone products such as our solar-powered seacan to provide mobile clean energy.

Celebrating 15 Years of Excellence at Great Canadian Solar
Great Canadian Solar is proud to celebrate 15 years of serving Alberta’s solar energy market. Reflecting on our journey, we’ve witnessed incredible advancements in the industry. When we first started, the economic payback for solar systems was 50–60 years, while the environmental payback was less than a year—especially with Alberta relying heavily on coal-fired electricity generation.
As part of this milestone, we’re sharing 15 recommendations for a successful solar project, based on our experience delivering hundreds of residential, commercial, and utility-scale projects across Alberta.
Recommendation #15: Get 3 Quotes!
For any solar project, we strongly encourage clients to obtain quotes from at least three companies with proven experience in your local market. Over the years, we’ve met many clients who initially signed contracts with high-pressure, door-to-door sales companies that subcontract their installations. While it’s important to consider their proposal, giving other reputable companies a chance to bid can save you from overpaying. High-pressure sales tactics often indicate pricing far above the market average.
Let us help you make informed decisions as you embark on your solar journey. Here’s to 15 years of empowering Alberta with sustainable energy—and many more to come!

Was this you after receiving your January/February energy bills? We feel your pain, but we also have solutions 👇
Going solar and generating your OWN electricity can provide a reliable source of energy, especially in sunny areas like Alberta! Energy prices are subject to fluctuations and can increase unpredictably as we’ve seen; however, by generating your own energy, you insulate yourself from these increases and ultimately have MORE control over your energy costs, improving your energy independence. Additionally, by shifting our habits (𝘪.𝘦. 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘢𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘺 𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘵 𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵), you end up requiring less energy from the grid as you’re using the energy YOUR SYSTEM produced instead – thus decreasing your energy costs.
