A federal judge has temporarily stopped the deportation of Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, the truck driver responsible for the 2018 ❌🇨🇦👇
Humboldt Broncos bus crash that killed 16 people and injured 13. Sidhu, who had already served time and was granted full parole in 2023, faced removal from Canada because serious criminal convictions make permanent residents ineligible to stay.
His lawyer argued that deporting him now—before a humanitarian application (based on factors like his family and health issues) is reviewed—was unfair. The court agreed to pause the deportation for now, calling the government’s decision questionable. This delay could last a few months while the court reviews the case.
This marks the first legal decision in Sidhu’s favor after years of proceedings, and it brings renewed attention to the balance between justice, punishment, and compassion.
Questions to think about:
• Should someone who has served their sentence still face deportation, or is that a second punishment?
• How should courts weigh humanitarian factors like family and health against the severity of a crime?
• Does this decision respect the victims, or could it be seen as overlooking their loss?
• Where should the line be drawn between accountability and forgiveness in cases like this?

The price of just about everything seems to be going up these days, and now that includes Lotto Max lottery tickets.❌🇨🇦💯
The next time you want to try your luck by buying a Lotto Max ticket, make sure to budget a little more, as ticket prices are increasing in April. These changes were announced in October and will apply nationwide, with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) stating that “Canada’s most popular lottery games, Lotto Max, will undergo an exciting transformation.”
Here’s what Canadian lottery players should know.
The standard $5 ticket will now cost you $6 per play. In an email to Daily Hive, Tony Bitonti, director of media relations at OLG, stated that the new ticket price will go into effect on Friday, April 10, when ticket sales resume after the “draw break.”
“This is the time when ticket sales are closed for the Friday draw, usually at about 10:30 p.m. E.T. Ticket sales start up again, between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.,” he explained. “So ticket sales for the new Lotto Max will technically start on Friday, April 10 (after the draw break) if the retailer is open, but most sales will begin on Saturday, April 11.”

AC8646 is an Air Canada Express flight operated by Jazz Aviation.
Jazz, the largest regional carrier in the country, is not owned by Air Canada but by a holding company called Chorus.
The ownership situation explains why all official airline statements coming to the media about the crash are coming from Jazz Aviation rather than Air Canada.
According to the Chorus website, Jazz Aviation has 4,000 employees and operates around 400 Air Canada Express flights daily to 70 destinations in Canada and the U.S.
Jazz is headquartered in Halifax, owns 106 aircraft and transports around 8.3 million passengers per year.

A U.S. Navy submarine has sunk an Iranian warship, the IRIS Dena, with a single Mk-48 torpedo in the Indian Ocean, marking the first time since World War II that a U.S. submarine has sunk an enemy warship using a torpedo in wartime. The strike, part of Operation Epic Fury, is part of a broader military campaign targeting Iranian naval assets. Casualties are unclear, with reports suggesting sailors are missing, and U.S. officials claim Iran's naval presence in the area has been significantly weakened.

SPAIN BLOCKS US WARPLANES:
The diplomatic fallout from the Middle East conflict is fracturing Western alliances. According to live flight tracking data, 15 United States military aircraft have officially departed from the Rota and Moron bases in southern Spain following the weekend strikes on Iran. Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares confirmed that Spain will absolutely not allow its sovereign bases to be used for the US-Israeli campaign, which Madrid has strongly condemned. Flight trackers show at least seven of these aircraft have already relocated to Ramstein Air Base in Germany.

The "Breaking News" ❌🇨🇦
The King keeps calm as the Crown crumbles. Just hours after Prince Andrew’s shock arrest for “public misconduct” at Sandringham, King Charles made a defiant appearance at London Fashion Week. Despite a barrage of questions from reporters, the Monarch remained silent, signaling a "business as usual" approach to what many call a watershed moment for the Monarchy.
King Charles is choosing duty over drama. By appearing at a high-profile fashion event immediately following his brother's arrest, he’s sending a clear message: the institution of the Throne is separate from the actions of the individual.

Canada has experienced 72 school shootings since 1902. This tragedy is the second deadliest in Canadian history and the deadliest involving a high school. Let's remember that behind statistics are names, families, and communities. The priority now is grief, not outrage or politics. Healing will take time, and communities in crisis need patience, space to mourn, and time to breathe. Let love lead, and may we choose patience, empathy, and each other. May we all find peace for our souls and strength for the days ahead. ❤️🕊️
