You learn that your gut produces neurotransmitters that influence your mood. You discover that stress can change digestion, sleep, immune function, and even how your genes are expressed.

Someone once told me that the word doctor means “teacher.”

Etymologically, they were right.

The word doctor comes from the Latin verb docēre — which means to teach.

When I earned this title, I didn’t take it as a badge of superiority. I took it as a responsibility.

Because if “doctor” means teacher… then the question becomes: What exactly are we teaching?
