When winter hits hard, our team rises to the challenge. Despite the recent snowstorm and freezing temperatures of -25°C, EDEX employees continue to work hard, getting the job done safely and efficiently. Alberta winters are no small test, but dedication and resilience are part of who we are.

Proud of our EDEX teams who keep operations running smoothly year-round.

RECORD TURNAROUND ON A CRITICAL BUILD
Our Heat Exchanger Services team recently built four large heat exchanger bundles from the ground up in just 16 days, culminating with the final bundle successfully passing hydro.

This achievement was made possible by our in-house steel plate and tube inventory, including SA-516-70 N plate for tube sheets and baffles, and SA-179 tubing. Each bundle measured approximately 58” OD × 20’ long and weighed ~30,000 lbs.

A true team effort with results delivered in record time!

We’re reflecting with deep gratitude today for partners who make long-lasting change possible, like the Henry Gusse Foundation. For nearly 20 years, they have been champions of hope for our neighbours experiencing homelessness and extreme poverty.

Because of their generosity, The Mustard Seed provides health and wellness wraparound supports in our three community impact centres and shelters, which helps create a pathway into permanent housing when needed. This is helping people not just survive, but truly move forward - the kind of impact that changes lives.

Thanks to champions like the Henry Gusse Foundation, we're seeing an average of over 15% of shelter guests move into permanent housing month over month. What a powerful reminder of what’s possible when compassion leads the way!

Thank you for being a cornerstone of our community, Henry Gusse Foundation! We’re inspired by Henry Gusse’s legacy and thankful to walk into the future together, building a stronger, more caring Edmonton for all. 💛

A closer look inside Edmonton Exchanger’s large-scale machining capabilities. These images show a declad peel-back of the inside explosion-bonded overlay on a 219” I.D. head, along with a large tube sheet measuring 4.5" thick x 198" OD and finished to 4.125" after machining, set up in our Craven vertical boring mill.

Our Craven can handle material up to 24′-0″ in diameter x 10′-0″ high (7,315 mm x 3,048 mm) and a weight of 50 tons, enabling us to machine massive, complex components with precision.

Jobs like this highlight our ability to support demanding applications across critical industries.

Edmonton Exchanger recently completed a unique project for a client in the nuclear energy industry. Our team supplied a heavy 9" x 43.3125" x 43.3125" carbon steel plate, which will be used to cut a 39" OD circle from its center for a specialized radiology test. The material will be evaluated to understand how radiation affects its performance.

We’re proud to support critical industries with the specialized materials and expertise they rely on.

As we celebrate Edmonton Exchanger’s 50th anniversary, we’re proud to continue some Christmas traditions that mean so much to us. Each year, we gift our EDEX calendars to customers, friends, and employees as a thank-you for being part of our journey.

Our team is at the heart of everything we do, and every EDEX employee receives a Christmas ham in appreciation of their hard work. We also come together annually to raise thousands of dollars’ worth of toys for Santas Anonymous, helping bring joy to children in our community.

Here’s to 50 years of community and to showing appreciation for the people who make it all possible!
