A recent project at Edmonton Exchanger involved splitting a massive 1 3/8” x 258” ID SE2:1 pressure vessel head, formed in one piece, for shipping.

With extensive forming and fabrication capabilities enabling us to form an SE2:1 head up to 288” ID, our team can fabricate large pressure vessel heads for specialized applications, helping customers overcome unique fabrication, transportation, and installation challenges.

At our annual Years of Service Awards BBQ, we recognized the dedication and commitment of our long-serving employees.

This year, 44 Edmonton Exchanger employees were recognized for service milestones ranging from 5 years to an incredible 45 years.

Special congratulations go to Ivan Gellert, Shop Superintendent, who is celebrating an outstanding 45 years with Edmonton Exchanger. Ivan’s milestone represents nearly half a century of experience, dedication, and contribution to our company.

We’re proud to celebrate all of this year’s recipients and thank them for the role they continue to play in EDEX’s success.

Another heat exchanger project completed by EDEX’s Heat Exchanger Services division.

This project involved the fabrication of two U-tube bundles featuring 2205 Duplex stainless steel throughout, including SA-240 UNS S32205 tube sheets, SA-789 UNS S32205 tubes (3/4" O.D. x 16 BWG), baffles, and other components.

Every tube-to-tube sheet joint was orbitally welded to ensure precision and consistency. Once all materials arrived at EDEX, our team completed both U-bundles in approximately 2–3 weeks.

From engineering and drafting through fabrication, hydro testing, and ABSA certification, EDEX delivered the complete solution, all under one roof.

PRECISION IN EVERY WELD
Our Pipe Fabrication shop is currently fabricating 88 sulfur steam jacket spools, each featuring an 8" core for sulfur service and a 10" jacket for steam.

This is a complex fabrication process where precision is critical. The jackets must be installed in stages to allow the core to be fully welded and hydrotested before the split jackets are installed and completed. A second hydro test is then performed on the steam jacket. The project also includes 90° spools created using induction bends, requiring the core and jacket radii to align perfectly.

From staged jacket installation to precise fit-up and testing, every step demands accuracy and attention to detail. That's the EDEX Pipe Fabrication difference.

While our team is known for delivering precision machining services at customer sites across Western Canada, we also bring that same expertise into our own facilities when the job demands it. From large-vessel components to specialized repair and fabrication projects, EDEX's Field Machining team can perform critical machining work right in our shops, helping to keep projects moving efficiently and on schedule.
