We’re so excited to host the National Youth Choir of Canada at the Fairbridge Farm Chapel. We hope you’ll join us on May 13 to welcome these talented young artists to Cowichan! The concert offers a chance to experience this historic chapel as it was meant to be heard.

The 2026 National Youth Choir of Canada meets in person for the first time in just over a week, kicking off their rehearsal residency at Simon Fraser University's Burnaby Campus! From there, the choir will tour the province with stops in Burnaby, Abbotsford, Courtenay, Parksville, and Duncan, concluding in Victoria with a featured performance at Podium: Choral Conference & Festival / Congrès et festival choral.

This year’s ensemble is led by Guest Conductor Dr. Julia Davids, Apprentice Conductor Matthew Boutda, Collaborative Pianist Alex Chen, and Tour Manager Adam Skinner. The 2026 program explores the expressive power of the human voice and includes the world premiere of a newly commissioned work by acclaimed BC composer Katerina Gimon.

The Fairbridge Chapel Heritage Society AGM for this year will be held in the Chapel building, at 12noon on Saturday May 2nd 2026.

If you're interested in attending and learning more about the Chapel Society or getting involved, you should come. It only costs $10 per year to be a member!

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit the Cowichan Valley Museum & Archives, a terrific local museum, I learnt a lot about the history of the area that I didn’t know before.
