🗓 Next Revolve Reads will be April 20th, 6:30-8:30, at Island Bagel and Bannock. We will be reading Ensh*ttification by Cory Doctorow, up to the chapter titled, 'The End of Self Help'. Join us whether or not you have read the book!

📚 Here's a snippet from the synopsis: "The once-glorious internet has degenerated into “platforms” that rose to dominance because they delivered convenient and delightful services efficiently and reliably. But once we were locked in to those services, the tech bosses turned on us, relying on our dependency to keep us using the services even as they got worse and worse. The platform bosses did the same to the companies that had flocked to their services to sell stuff to us. Once we were all locked in—businesses and users—the tech companies stripped out all utility, save the bare minimum needed to stave off total collapse."

This month we will be reading On Tyranny by Timothy Snyder. The book shows the reader how to notice fascism and provides lessons based in history on how to resist its rise in America.

To add to the conversation, we chose to pair the reading with a short documentary titled, How Fascism Serves Capitalism(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mn_RwIcL7cg) featuring a lecture from Michael Parenti. In this documentary, Dr. Michael Parenti defines fascism, describes its characteristics, and explains the role fascism plays in serving the rational interests of capitalists while suppressing communism and other organized worker movements.

Remember - our Revolve book club has an inclusive structure in which discussion revolves around the themes of the content. If you don’t have time to take in the material please come anyway for the discussion!
