Porcupines might look cute… until your dog gets too curious 🦔🐾
Porcupine quills can cause:
⚠️ Pain and swelling
⚠️ Infection
⚠️ Migration deeper into tissues
⚠️ Serious injury to the mouth, face, eyes, or chest
If your pet gets quilled:
❌ Do NOT cut the quills
❌ Do NOT try to remove large numbers at home
✅ Seek veterinary care as soon as possible

💙🐾 Happy Father’s Day! 🐾💙
Today we’re celebrating all of the amazing dads out there — the early morning walkers, treat dispensers, fetch champions, expert belly rubbers, and the ones who somehow always end up with “the pet that wasn’t supposed to be theirs.” 🐶🐱
Thank you for all the love, patience, and care you give to your furry family members every day.
We hope your day is filled with wagging tails, purrs, and plenty of quality time with those who make life special.
Happy Father’s Day from all of us at Devonian Veterinary Clinic! 💙

Baby bunny season is here! 🐇🌱
Before mowing, gardening, or letting dogs explore the yard — keep an eye out for hidden rabbit nests!
Wild rabbits often build nests:
🌿 In grass
🌿 In gardens
🌿 In shallow spots on the ground
🌿 Right in backyards
A few important things to know:
🐰 Baby bunnies found alone are usually NOT abandoned
🐰 Mom only visits the nest a few times a day
🐰 Dogs and cats can accidentally injure babies or disturb nests
If you find a nest:
✔️ Keep pets away
✔️ Avoid touching the babies
✔️ Mark the area carefully
✔️ Contact a wildlife rehabilitator if babies are injured
Tiny backyard visitors deserve a safe start too 💙

MICROCHIP MYTHS 🐾
❌ ‘My pet is indoor only, so they don’t need a microchip.’
Even indoor pets can slip outside unexpectedly.
❌ ‘A microchip is a GPS tracker.’
Microchips do not track location — they store an ID number that links to your contact information.
❌ ‘My pet already has tags, so they don’t need a chip.’
Collars and tags can fall off. A microchip is permanent identification.
❌ ‘Once my pet is microchipped, I never need to think about it again.’
Your contact information needs to stay updated for the chip to work properly.
❌ ‘Microchips are painful or dangerous.’
Implanting a microchip is quick and similar to a vaccine injection.
✅ Microchips greatly increase the chances of lost pets being reunited with their families 💙
