Our perception of reality is what creates our experience. When we focus our attention inward and take time to witness our own experience without judgement, we start to see the world differently.

It may be because of negative bias.

There’s actually some science behind it, but it’s also because we’re constantly surrounded by it.

Negativity bias is a cognitive bias that results in adverse events having a more significant impact on our psychological state than positive events. It occurs even when adverse events and positive events are of the same magnitude, meaning we feel negative events more intensely.

Notice how the media and social platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, love a negative story. We very rarely see positive news unless we seek them out.

It’s part of our evolution, our existence—to focus on the negatives.

But it’s our responsibility to make a change and focus on bringing more positivity into our lives.

Here’s an effective way you can do so.

Try to develop an awareness that negativity bias exists since it will allow you to take control of what you are consuming and how you react and respond to the negative things that happen to you.

If you ever feel guilty about constantly focusing on the negatives, don’t worry. You’re not alone and never will be.

Were you aware of negativity bias? What do you do to overcome them? Let us know in the comments below.

Stress is inevitable in life, but extreme and unrelenting pressures can lead to the debilitating state we call burnout. 🙁

Three symptoms characterize burnout: exhaustion; cynicism, or distancing oneself from work; and inefficacy, or feelings of incompetence and lack of achievement.

In fact, research has linked burnout to many health problems, including hypertension, sleep disturbances, depression, and substance abuse.

It can also ruin relationships and jeopardize career prospects.

If you're experiencing burnout, don't keep it to yourself. 🤗

Send me a message and let's help you develop a plan to overcome this. 💛

Rough day? 🤗 Having healthy coping skills is key to getting through tough times. It helps you tolerate, minimize, and deal with stressful life situations. It can also help you feel better physically and psychologically, and perform your best.

Here are some healthy coping mechanisms you can do:

👉🏼Take care of your body in a way that makes you feel good such as painting your nails, putting on lotion that smells good, doing your hair, or putting on makeup.
👉🏼Draw, write in your journal, listen to music, or do something you enjoy.
👉🏼Go for a walk, do yoga, swim or take a hike, and engage in a recreational sport.
👉🏼Clean your room, cook a meal, or organize your closet
👉🏼List things you’re grateful for or look at pictures that bring you happiness.
👉🏼Play with your pet, squeeze a stress ball, or indulge in aromatherapy

Men often seek an escape or thrilling activity to get relief from stress, to create a relaxing diversion, or even to get away. 💆‍♂️

But of course, not all men cope with stress the same way.

Stress and coping mechanisms can be tricky subjects. So, it’s important to understand where this stress is coming from to help our men achieve a healthy mental state. 🫂

When most men are faced with strong emotions, the initial instinct is to look for a problem to solve. When this happens, it's important to take the time to understand and accept your feelings. It can take some time for men to realize how their emotions are affecting them. They may not always think about how they're feeling because they want to fix a problem quickly. This can cause issues in interpersonal relationships if people don't recognize that their partner's emotional state may be different than theirs.

Most men grow up being boxed into role models of what a man should be. They feel the need to be strong, powerful, and independent, but they often have little experience in expressing feelings in certain situations. Men may not be inclined to talk about their feelings, so they might prefer to work through solutions before talking about how they got there. While men do express feelings they do it in ways others may not see, such as through body languages such as physical gestures, facial changes, muscle tension and gritting of teeth.

As much as men might like to think they're tough, they too can be lonely. For many men, being open about their feelings has been worth the risk. When they found themselves struggling, a lot of them tested talking about it with some of their close friends. Talking about your feelings openly can be tricky, but many men have found it to be well worth the risk. Getting a better sense of the challenges they've faced and opening up about them has really helped them understand where they're at.

The world has changed a lot since the days when it was considered taboo for men to share their feelings. It's important that your loved ones appreciate and respect your emotions. That said, you don't want to overwhelm anyone. Start by sharing your feelings in small steps, first with people you feel close to, then with a friend or partner who is open to listening. Find a way to keep your emotions in check and express yourself at the right times and in the right ways.
