Give your home a smarter kind of “reset”
When something in a modern home glitches, the old advice is to “unplug it and plug it back in.” At Graytek, we have built that idea into the system itself using WattBox power management and OvrC remote monitoring. Each key device sits on a managed outlet, so both you and our team can safely reboot the right gear without climbing behind furniture or opening a rack.
With the OvrC Connect app, you can reboot devices like Telus boxes or Apple TVs with a single tap, using clear names that match your rooms and sources. If the issue needs more help, our dedicated service team can step in, check power logs, and sequence reboots remotely, often restoring everything before anyone misses a show.
It is all part of the Graytek service model for clients across Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and Whistler: design the right infrastructure up front, give you simple tools to try first, and back it with 24/7 remote support from people who know your system inside and out.

Something big is happening at Graytek
This room in Metro Vancouver does not look like much yet. Plastic on the floor, tools everywhere, and tape lines on the walls. By Fall, it will be something completely different.
We are keeping the details under wraps for now, but watch this space over the next few weeks as we drop more hints.

Tired of fighting with your smart home? Let us bring it back into line.
Maybe the lights never behave the same way twice. Maybe the TV room is full of remotes. Or maybe you bought a beautiful home with someone else’s tech and have no idea where to start. That is where Graytek comes in.
We work with homeowners across Vancouver, West Vancouver, North Vancouver, and Whistler to rescue confusing, unreliable systems and turn them into calm, predictable experiences . Instead of defaulting to a full rip-out, we begin by understanding your existing wiring, racks, and control platform, then design a path to clean things up: reprogramming where possible, upgrading key pieces where it counts, and putting everything behind a single, intuitive interface .
The result feels like a fresh start without starting over. Your home looks the same, but the technology finally works quietly in the background so you can relax and enjoy it.

If you are planning a smart home as part of a new custom build or renovation in Vancouver or West Vancouver, you might be asking the same question we hear all the time:
“I am not sure what happens next, or who is responsible for what.”
Smart home technology touches many parts of the project, so unclear expectations can create real friction for homeowners, builders, and designers. That is exactly why every Graytek project follows a clear, documented lifecycle.
In our latest blog, we break that lifecycle down into four simple stages:
• Discovery to understand how you want the home to feel, and which spaces matter most
• Design to turn your priorities into a coordinated, buildable plan for all the trades
• Ex*****on to install, integrate, and commission the system with fewer surprises
• Service to support the home long term, and adapt as your needs change
You will see what decisions happen when, what we need from you, and how this structure keeps the project on track from first meeting to long after move-in.
Start here if you want a calmer, more predictable smart home project:

Graytek is now offering this brand new Lutron solution to clients across Vancouver, West Vancouver, North Vancouver, and Whistler. We integrate Palladiom drapery with lighting and shade control so your sheers, drapery, and roller shades all move together, creating a calm, cohesive look throughout the home.

This 40' LED lit waterfall will be the showpiece of this Crestron Home project
Here is a behind the scenes look at one of the most dramatic features in a new luxury home we are working on in the Vancouver area. Our team has installed a custom LED lighting system inside a 40' waterfall that sits right in the centre of the home so it will be visible from multiple living spaces and fully managed by Crestron Home.
Because the waterfall lighting is tied into the Crestron Home platform, the owners will be able to shift it from soft, relaxing ambience to bold, colourful entertaining scenes with a single button press. It is a great example of how thoughtful lighting design and a robust control system can turn architecture into a living, flexible backdrop for daily life.

This is a look inside another Graytek Training Academy session at our Coquitlam office, where our technicians gather around the table for focused, hands-on practice. Structured training helps ensure every cable, termination, and test meets the same Graytek standard before it ever reaches a home.
Led by Production Manager Donald Cameron, these sessions blend real project scenarios with detailed instruction so our crews stay aligned across complex projects throughout Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Whistler, and the Fraser Valley. It is one of the ways we keep our work consistent and ready for long-term service.
If you are passionate about smart home technology and want to grow your skills in a collaborative, training-focused environment, Graytek could be a great fit.

When every new system comes with its own app, it is easy for your “smart” home to start feeling anything but.
EV chargers, solar, heat pumps, pools, steam rooms, saunas, and elevators all bring their own controls and connectivity. Your electrician, HVAC team, and specialty trades handle the power and equipment, but who is responsible for making sure everything that needs data actually has a clean, reliable connection?
That is where Graytek comes in.
For new builds and renovations in Vancouver and West Vancouver, we design the low voltage and data infrastructure as part of the construction plan. We coordinate with your builder, designer, electrician, HVAC contractor, pool and spa team, and other trades to identify which devices need communication, then create structured wiring and network paths to support them.
Instead of a patchwork of apps and guesswork, you get a smart home where the big systems feel integrated, documented, and ready for the next 10 to 20 years.
If you are planning a project, the best time to talk infrastructure is now, not after the walls are closed.

2N access control that is built like serious security equipment
If your home has a secure driveway gate, pedestrian gate, or multiple exterior doors, you need hardware that is built for real security, not a retail doorbell. Graytek relies on 2N IP access control devices at key entry points across Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and Whistler, mounted on proper posts and wired back over structured cabling and fibre. These systems are designed for demanding outdoor environments and for properties that simply cannot afford “hit and miss” access.
Each 2N station becomes a controlled boundary: camera, call button, keypad or card reader, and clear status feedback, all tied into a professional alarm and control infrastructure. When someone approaches the gate, you see them on your touchpanels or phone, speak to them clearly, and decide exactly what happens next. Behind the scenes, ELK access control modules and enterprise-grade networking make sure strikes, sensors, and notifications behave the same way every time.
Because we coordinate post locations, backboxes, cabling routes, and finishes with your builder and design team, the 2N hardware looks like it belongs in a luxury property while still being serviceable and secure. This is not a disposable gadget. It is a commercial-grade access system, engineered, documented, and supported to protect your home for the long term.

Before we pull wire, we agree on every device and label it
On every site, our team starts rough in with a walkthrough of the framed home together with the clients, interior design team, and builder. We stand in each room and decide where every device belongs so it feels natural day to day. That means lighting keypads and touch panels, but also all the hidden devices that live in closets, niches, and millwork.
As we go, we place location stickers on the studs and match them to our wiring plans and device schedules. This extra step means every device is agreed on, labelled, and documented before drywall goes up, when changes are quick and inexpensive instead of messy and costly. It is one of the quiet ways Graytek goes the extra mile on design and keeps finished homes across Vancouver and the North Shore clean, organised, and ready for the long term.
