I love working with wood as a substrate. This piece had some pretty heartwood and some natural inclusions that inspired the sunburst. I love the way it came together ๐ŸŒž

This piece of wood has a lot going on! Cracks, grain, rings, it has it all. I love nature's imperfections and I love that I get to compliment it with some colour.

I woodburned and painted this slice of Alder that I got from Astra Bay here in Comox. It's always fun experimenting with new wood. I like the texture that Alder wood offers my watercolour painting. I will have a very limited run of Alder creations for this upcoming summer market season. Stay tuned for more deets โœจ

It's so fun working with the wood grain on each piece of wood. This piece has some grain that didn't take the paint, and it kind of looks like a solar flare, or camera flare. I love when the wood decides what it wants to look like, and I just get to compliment it a bit.

Woodburned free-hand, painted with watercolours, coated in epoxy resin, on a beautiful piece of Birchwood.

What should we name this piece?
I love that you can see the rings in the wood, but I'm a bit sad that you can't see the way the metallic paints shimmer and shine in these photos. It's so warm and makes me excited for summer ๐ŸŒž

I'm in my happy place making art if you need to find me.
I'm trying to unplug and do what brings me joy, which involves spending less time online and more time doing things with my hands.

I love the shape of this piece of wood, it was so much fun to work with. She is currently untitled, drawn free-handed using pyrography, acrylics and watercolour on a piece of Birch wood and finished with a shiny epoxy coating to preserve the scene forever.
What should we call it?

The Aurora's glow in the dark on this piece.
Why?
Because they should.
