Long before TeamUp arrived in Pucallpa, Peru, Coach Jesús was already showing up for the youth in his community. ⚽️🇵🇪

From building relationships in Valle de los Lirios to running sports tournaments for local children, Coach Jesús saw sport as more than just a game—it was a way to create a safe space where young people could build trust, find belonging, and grow.

Today, alongside TeamUp Peru, that vision has expanded into 6 weekly active programs transforming lives across Pucallpa.

📖 Head to our blog to read Coach Jesús’s inspiring story and see how local leaders are making a lasting impact.

On and off the pitch, the Gift of Play changes everything. ⚽✨

For children living on the streets of Mbale, Uganda, a soccer game is so much more than 90 minutes of play, it’s where belonging begins. Through our partnership with , local leaders like Richard are using sports as a front door to meet kids right where they are, offering warm meals, medical care, mentorship, and a safe place to be seen.

What starts as a game often leads to life-changing impact, including family reunifications and long-term care.

This Thanksgiving season, we’re deeply grateful for our game-changers: the local leaders showing up daily, the kids who inspire us with their joy, and YOU—our incredible TeamUp community. Your support makes every connection on the field possible.

Because with the Gift of Play, gratitude is always part of the game. 💛

Why sport? ⚽️🏀

Because sport speaks every language. It lowers barriers, builds instant community, and turns an open field into a place where a child feels seen.

Whether it's kids in Malawi learning life skills alongside soccer, or athletes in Paraguay developing confidence to lead their peers, sport is the tool, but belonging is the outcome.

What was the moment sport made you feel like you belonged? Drop it in the comments below ⬇️

“Generosity doesn’t always have to be monetary.” ⚽️✨

When TWU Spartans student-athlete Kieran Eve first traveled to Paraguay with TeamUp, he didn't realize it was just the beginning of his journey. From competing in the TeamUp Cup to serving as a summer intern across Burnaby, Chilliwack, and Langley, Kieran has experienced firsthand how simply showing up with energy and encouragement can transform lives—including his own.

"I think the beauty of working and volunteering with TeamUp is that it shows that generosity doesn’t always have to be monetary. For young adults, just giving an hour of your time in the evenings to play soccer and speak words of encouragement into the lives of children in your community is always worth it." — Kieran Eve

When Miremba was 10, she stepped away from school. In her village, early marriage and teenage pregnancy felt like the only path forward, making an education feel out of reach.

But when her school introduced regular TeamUp sports programs, something changed.

The desire to play brought Miremba back onto the field—and back into the classroom. Today, she’s 12, attending school regularly, and finding stability, mentorship, and a genuine sense of belonging.

Sport is so much more than a game. It’s a bridge back to hope.
