A successful Public Information Meeting last night in Hatzic for a new project along Lougheed Highway! This project proposes a mix of residential and commercial on a property currently only designated for commercial use. Proposing a residential component means we need to amend the Official Community Plan. Doing this requires the support of the community, and last night we were happy to share our proposal with the neighbourhood and listen to feedback and concerns. Hopefully we can now address these concerns and bring this development forward with the support of the community! It takes a village to properly plan a city, and last night was a great exercise in collaboration and effective communication. What better way to start the new year off than with Development Permit approval in the first month! The Development Permit for our proposed mixed-use apartment building in downtown Agassiz was approved by District of Kent Council on Monday which will replace a vacant lot on Pioneer Avenue. New housing options in a walkable neighbourhood benefit everybody, and this development is one step closer to bringing this to fruition! Approval received to enable an addition and renovation to a long standing residence in the Agricultural Land Reserve! With an abundance of limitations on what can be built in the ALR, this project was more complicated than it looked! Thankfully, after due diligence and a carefully crafted application, approval was possible! The owners will now be able to update their home with complete confidence. A new access achieved for our clients off No. 3! With the permit issued they constructed a new access allowing their farm to operate more efficiently! Our proposal for a new townhouse development in Agassiz received first and second reading from Council this week and will move forward to a public hearing on August 21st! This project includes amending the Official Community Plan and the Zoning to allow more compact housing, providing 8 new homes in place of 1 just a 5-minute walk from downtown Agassiz. Outside of municipalities, new developments may require an access permit from the local Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI) office. OTG has many years of direct experience working with MoTI and can handle this process among the many other approvals required for development.
