Fall Refresh: Microneedling-Why You Need It!

Summer skin is all about that radiant, golden glow and feeling the warmth on your skin. But, let’s be real, being in the sun all summer long- even if you’ve been wearing your sunscreen and wearing your broad-brimmed hat to the pool means that your skin could benefit from a fall refresh!

Here are some details on my new favorite in-office treatment for fall:

Microneedling
Don’t let the word needle fool you here, this is not a painful procedure. Microneedling (also called “collagen induction therapy”) is a procedure based on the use of tiny needles which create minor, controlled wounds to the skin. Your body reacts by naturally healing your skin and, in the process, building new collagen and elastin in the dermis. More collagen=younger, firmer skin. It is ideal for tightening and lifting the skin and minimizing acne scars, smoothing out pores, photo-aging, dull skin, poor texture, stretch marks, and body scars. It can help with fine lines and wrinkles; in fact, a recent study showed that medical Microneedling could increase epidermal thickness by 140% while increasing and thickening collagen bundles in the dermis.
Microneedling also allows serums, topical gels, and creams to pe*****te or infuse more deeply into your skin, allowing the products to be more effective. The needle punctures create micro-channels, allowing enhanced pe*******on of topical products. Serums, for example, are packed with powerful ingredients to benefit your skin. This procedure allows the serums to be absorbed more effectively into your skin, thereby allowing them to achieve accelerated results. Up to 80% of a product can pe*****te skin after Microneedling, compared to a mere 7% with regular application on intact skin! Translation: even more beautiful, glowing, and youthful skin.
