Instinct Testing Puppies on Sheep 05/27/2026

4 years down the road, it was VERY interesting for me to review the instinct test with these two dogs!!!
They have earned level one titles in AHBA, and are needing ONE more trial to finish their level one in CKC. BUT there remain some struggles with each, and we just keep plugging away to fix them!
If I need to move, sort or pen sheep, Wiz remains the most reliable.

🤣How to deal with stock with ugly temperaments ...😂

We are sooo grateful for our little community of helpers that have volunteered their valuable time to come out and help us with planting and sheep care!
Yesterday, we enjoyed the help from Annabel and friend, Kent. They helped us get the corn in, clean out a raised box bed, and we got the lambs vaccinated and tagged. So much help to have an actual nurse do the vaccinating!!!

Every year, we have surprise duck yard 'OUCH' events. Here is the first one for this year... and it has tied last year's biggest entry at 123g! 🤣
(Wish I knew which duck can do these!!!)

HERDING IN A NUTSHELL:

The stock will move in the direction to which their heads are pointing.

To successfully move stock, get the heads pointed in the direction you wish them to go. (EZ-PZ 🤣)

A challenge occurs when the direction you have chosen is NOT the direction in which the stock wish to go.

That's All, Folks!

While the 'boys' were doing the diggin' and a trenchin', Rhonda Chandler and myself were busy getting shade protection on the saplings (there are about 40 of them) and preparing the squash bed for planting.
Thanks so much to Rhonda for helping! So often I just feel a bit overwhelmed by the farming/Spring planting part!
