Holy Spirit Parish Calgary

Today we celebrate St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, the Little Flower. 🌹

May her “little way” remind us that even the simplest things, when done with great love, can draw us closer to God.

St. Thérèse, pray for us. 🙏🌹 Jesus, I Trust In You ✝️

Happy Birthday, Father David! 🎉🙏❤️

We are so grateful for the blessing you are to our parish family. May God fill your special day with joy and surround you with the same love and kindness you so generously share with all of us.

Wishing you many more blessed and beautiful years! 🎂✨

Today, September 29, we celebrate the Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel and Raphael — the Holy Archangels. 🙏🏼

⚔️ Saint Michael, defend us in battle.
🕊️ Saint Gabriel, bring us God’s word.
💚 Saint Raphael, guide us and bring healing.

Each reminds us that God is always at work — protecting, speaking, healing and guiding His people.

Holy Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, pray for us and be our companions on the journey of life. ✝️

Jesus, I Trust In You

Congratulations Father Tran 🙏🏼

War, displacement, and a dangerous escape by sea could have ended his dream of priesthood. Instead, Fr. Ignatius Tran's journey carried him from Vietnam to Canada. Now, Fr. Ignatius marks 40 years of priesthood.

Today we celebrate the Feast of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina — Padre Pio. 🤎🙏🏼

A humble Capuchin friar with a profound love for Christ, Padre Pio reminds us to place our worries into God’s hands and trust in His mercy.

“Pray, hope, and don’t worry. Worry is useless. God is merciful and will hear your prayer.”

Whatever may be weighing on your heart today, bring it to the Lord in prayer. Trust that He hears you, even when the way forward is not yet clear.

Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, pray for us. Jesus, I trust in You 🙏🏼

Today we celebrate the Feast of Saint Matthew, Apostle and Evangelist. 🙏🏼

Matthew reminds us that no life is beyond the reach of God’s grace. Jesus simply said, “Follow me,” and Matthew left everything behind to follow Him.

May we have the courage to hear Christ’s call in our own lives, to trust Him, and to place His Kingdom first.

Saint Matthew, pray for us. ❤️ Jesus, I trust in You 🙏🏼

Something hopeful is stirring in Quebec, a province once considered one of the great Catholic strongholds of North America.

Young Catholics have reportedly begun gathering every week outside Saint Joseph’s Oratory in Montreal, praying the Rosary specifically for the renewal of the Catholic faith in Quebec. Their commitment is ambitious: keep praying for 1,000 days.

Not even the weather has stopped them. During one gathering, heavy rain reportedly poured down for nearly the entire Rosary yet the group remained and finished their prayers.

Now similar gatherings are reportedly beginning in Quebec City and Trois-Rivières, carrying the initiative beyond Montreal. Quebec already has a centuries-old Rosary tradition; historical records document Rosary confraternities in Quebec City and Trois-Rivières going back to the 17th century.

I could verify Quebec’s deep Rosary tradition, but I could not yet independently confirm the 1,000-day campaign or its expansion from reliable institutional/news sources, so those details are best presented as reports from the movement itself.

For decades, people have spoken about the death of Catholic Quebec. These young Christians have chosen a different response: kneel down, take up the Rosary, and pray for its resurrection. Catholic Quebec is not dead.
