Date Night Calgary

A high-speed train between Calgary and Edmonton just moved another step closer 🚄👀

Alberta is preparing to launch a formal process for private companies to submit proposals for a high-speed rail line connecting Calgary, Red Deer and Edmonton, with new commitments from both the provincial and federal governments.

If built as proposed, trains could travel at speeds of up to 320 km/h, cutting the trip between downtown Calgary and downtown Edmonton to around 1 hour and 45 minutes.

The province plans to select a private-sector proponent by April 2027, while the federal government has committed to working with Alberta as the project moves forward.

A public outdoor thermal spa is coming to Calgary’s riverfront 👀♨️

Plans are underway for Moxy Calgary East Village, a new five-storey hotel being built along the RiverWalk near 6 Avenue and Confluence Way SE.

The development will include 131 hotel rooms, fitness and communal spaces, plus a bar and outdoor thermal spa.

But here’s the best part: you won’t have to stay at the hotel to use everything. Both the spa and bar are planned to welcome the public, making it a future spot for a riverside date without the overnight stay. 🍸♨️

Construction is currently underway, with completion expected in 2028.
