The importance of access to energy in primary and secondary schools cannot be overstated. Throughout the developing world, 188million students attend schools with no electricity whatsoever. These students lack access to proper lighting, computers, fans, refrigerators and many other energy systems and services that have the potential to greatly improve their educational outcomes. This report from the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) provides a good overview of the current state of school electrification, the importance of improved access to electricity, the barriers that must be overcome, and a recommended path forward. http://ow.ly/ZgtvT
