I knocked out my first 10 opponents
(and then I got knocked out...but that's not the point of this story 😂)
..Annnnyways, I think a large part of my success in the amateurs was that I was always on top of my strength and conditioning - I never gassed out in a fight and often gassed my opponents out with overwhelming pressure and power.
📣Of course my S&C work was in addition to never missing class, working hard shadowboxing and on the bag solo, and hitting extra pads whenever I could.
If you're an ammy looking to level up or a serious hobbyist who's looking to last longer in sparring rather than wilting and getting beat on by the fighters, don't wait for some future time to consider strength and conditioning.
An extra 2 days a week - 2 hours a week - can make a world of difference.

💯🙏Super proud strength coach this Saturday night watching these dedicated, hard working athletes perform to their potential when it mattered!
Strength and conditioning is a weapon, and it was amazing to see each of them wilt their opponents with a pace they couldn't match or keep up with, and to keep hitting hard until the final bell.
Congrats , , ! Onwards and upwards for these young and talented fighters! 🚀

🚨 Most combat athletes neglect 3 critical things in training, and it costs them.
I've seen it many times: Fighters work hard, have great technique, but they're missing key weaknesses that lead to being sidelined by injuries.
This post breaks down:
• The 3 most common physical weak points
• Why they cause injuries
• The exercises to fix them
I deal with this myself as a southpaw, left shin and foot issues are always lurking, but I know how to manage them.
You can stay injury-free through your entire training camp through smart, preventative strengthening of key areas.

🤔A question for fighters or coaches who are retired fighters: What's something about fighting you didn't understand until you experienced it?
There are some things about fighting that I don't think you can fully understand until you've experienced them. The adrenaline before and during a fight, the kind of fatigue that shows up in later rounds, the pressure of performing on fight night when the person across from you is actively trying to end you!
You can study the sport, watch fights, talk to fighters, and learn the theory, but I think stepping in the ring teaches a different kind of lesson.
That's why experience matters in coaching. Not because someone had to have been a champion, I'm not gatekeeping here, but because they've lived the reality fighters actually go through.
Very few will ever step into the squared circle and it's an experience you can't TRULY understand until you do.
Theory matters, but experience teaches you things you can't read about.
What do you think?

🤔Most fighters think more miles = better cardio.
Fights are repeated high-output bursts with incomplete recovery. If your conditioning doesnt reflect this structure, it won't transfer and your performance will suffer.
Serious fighters need structured energy system development that's individualized based on their own strengths and weaknesses, not random circuits or constant long duration steady state cardio.
DM "FIGHT" if yoy want programming built for your next camp.
🤔Some of my fighters are three weeks out right now... and we're about to train less.
On purpose.
Enter the taper!
We reduce volume.
We keep intensity sharp.
We protect speed and power.
We let the nervous system freshen up.
Fatigue will linger come fight night if you're not careful, especially when you're dealing with weight cuts during fight week.
Trust the process. Many fighters train too hard in the final weeks before a fight, and it costs them on fight night.
4️⃣ Unconventional but super effective leg exercises!
Dealing with a C spine injury has shifted my focus to the twigs lately. 🦵 Here are 4 "fun" and effective exercises you might not have tried before! These work well as accessories on training days after your main lifts of the day.
