The Alberta Reptile and Amphibian Society - TARAS Reptile Expo is this weekend!

It's been a busy week that defined all of the different ways we educate!
We attended the Killarney-Glengarry Food Truck Frenzy event for a stage show on Sunday.
During the week we provided animals to a high school photography program. visited multiple preschools and elementary schools, AND showed you never stop learning with a visit to a Seniors Facility.

Cool post from Snakes on a Plain of a prairie rattlesnake in Redcliffe eating a native rabbit.

Less cool? The comment "Come in my yard you slithering thing touch one of my bunnies it’s called heads of and will happen every time"

People still need to be educated about the importance of snakes, even if they are venomous.

It is illegal to harm/kill our native snakes. Prairie Rattlesnakes are very shy, there are 0 deaths from one in Alberta and bites are rare.

Respecting wildlife and giving it space is the goal. Snakes on a Plain do relocate rattlesnakes from yards. We do not have this species in Calgary, but as we travel throughout Alberta it is an important message.

We started offering single day camps during the fall teacher's strike. They were a success, and so we added camps for PD days, Christmas Break, Teacher's Convention, and Spring Break.

Today was the last single day camp of the school year. Thank you to Park96 for being a great host for our camps, and every camper that joined us to experience reptiles.
