Two weeks ago, we held a Spring Fling for our Children's Grief Centre clients. The sunny evening consisted of face painting, games, a photo booth, and food trucks in our Dibb Family Garden.

A heartfelt thank you to our food truck vendors - Kona Ice of Calgary and The Dogfather - for working within our budget and going above and beyond to make our families feel special. Your kindness, generosity and enthusiasm was the highlight of our event. Shoutout to Patty & Bruce whose generous donation made the food trucks possible!

“The great part about our parents and caregivers bringing there kids here - [they can] just let their kids have the most fun possible and just relax. Because that’s often what’s missing in grief” – Tricia, Community Engagement Coordinator for CGC

To our families: thank you for letting us be part of your day. 🩵

To our supporters: thank you for making joy like this possible. ✨

At Hospice Calgary, we meet people at some of life’s most vulnerable moments where being seen and accepted for who you are is imperative.

This Pride Month, we honour the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and reaffirm our commitment to inclusive, compassionate care—where every person can live their experience with dignity, authenticity, and support.

Because hope and well-being begin with feeling safe to be yourself. 🌈

Today, we mark 30 years since the official opening of Rosedale Hospice on May 28, 1996! 🩷

Opening the first freestanding community-based hospice in Western Canada was not an easy feat. In fact, in the 1980s and early 90s, many community members opposed having a hospice in their neighbourhood.

But perhaps in true Rosedale Hospice fashion, food brought people together... in an unexpected way.

One community resident began choking on a hot dog while driving and knew the hospice was her best chance for help. She managed to pull into the driveway and stagger toward the entrance, where a registered nurse recognized her distress and rushed outside to perform the Heimlich maneuver.

The opposition simmered down drastically after that.

Thirty years later, it is still a perfect example of what Rosedale Hospice is: a place that shows compassion in countless ways.

Stay tuned for more information on ways you can help us celebrate this milestone year.

A big thanks to the volunteers from The Mustard Seed who came to help at our 2026 Hike. Thanks to their support, the extra sandwiches from the event didn’t go to waste—they were shared with unhoused individuals across Calgary, making a meaningful difference in our community.

Thanks to the generous efforts of our volunteer sewers, Rosedale Hospice has no shortage of beautiful and creative belonging bags on hand. When someone at our hospice dies, their belongings are gathered and placed into a belonging bag to give back to their family or friends. Small acts of care like this can be very meaningful and represent the heart of our work at Rosedale.

A huge thanks to everyone who took part in Hike 2026! The weather was beautiful, the dogs were friendly, (so many dogs!) and everyone was excited to be taking part in our largest annual fundraising event.

We'll see you again next year for Hike 2027!

Three members of our incredible nursing team celebrating Disney Day last week! Not pictured: the many other amazing nurses who make Rosedale Hospice such a special place. We appreciate every one of you. 💙

This week is National Nursing Week—a time to recognize the nurses who show up each day and make a meaningful difference during some of life’s most profound moments.

Our RNs and LPNs at Rosedale Hospice bring not only clinical expertise, but deep compassion to their work—caring for patients and supporting their loved ones with dignity, and empathy.

Thank you for everything you do. We are truly grateful.
