Over the last 6 months we’ve been working to get the right sizing (spans XS-5X), the right skill level (beginner) and the right fit in all the right places. We chatted back and forth, made multiple samples, just to make sure it was perfect.

Wearing: my design

BTS: my mom is selling my childhood home (it’s a good thing), but I broke down cause of a sweater of my dad’s that we found on the weekend. Cue me crying in my stories. 😅

If you don’t know, in 2009, my dad passed away from skin cancer that travelled throughout his body.

It’s been over 17 years since he’s passed and that house has so many amazing memories. Being a kid and growing up with my dad, and then without him, moving out, and seeing my mom make more memories with her friends and while living solo. I’m so proud of my mom. (Say “HIIIIIII DOROTHY” in the comments).

Either way: on Sunday my sister and I came over to help my mom go through some stuff. We’ve already done a LOT of my dad’s stuff YEARS ago, but there were 2 sweaters…

1. The one he wore on every cabin trip, and that inspired my design. (The one I put on, still smelt him and then broke down in.)
2. The one my mom knit him… without doing a gauge swatch. 😂

When my sister Chelsea saw me break down in his cabin sweater, she let me have it - which could not have been easy for her, as it holds memories for the both of us. I can’t thank her enough for letting me hold onto it.

But the knit one? As a knitter myself? It was for sure coming home with me. My mom KNIT this with her hands (and she wasn’t an avid knitter), AND my dad wore it.

I would love to have been a fly on the wall to see how he reacted to putting it on for the first time. I wonder if my mom will grace us in the comments? 👀
