y, truth and above all, common sense. It is indeed unfortunate that we live today in a society dedicated to a radically different set of values than those envisaged by our founding forefathers. Never before have the needs of the one been so greatly conflicted with the needs of the many, the one seemingly having little weight against the veritable sea of bolshevism surrounding him. We today bear witness to a society in which individuals are forced to walk upon proverbial eggshells of political correctness in order to maintain the foundations of our proud heritage, history and culture. It seems obvious that our present epoch, often now looked upon as times of ‘uncertainty’ and ‘hardship’, has been brought about by a series of premeditated, intentionally bad decisions. Ineffectual leadership, weak idealism, and misguided national unity have brought us to this abyss, and the future appears bleak indeed. In much the same way as a homeless man does not arrive at his dumpster without having consciously, consistently engaged in self-destructive activities, so too are we in Canada responsible for our own undoing. If we hope to salvage what is left of our fair nation and reverse the tide of entropy and mediocrity that engulfs it we must reach to the past for guidance. It seems clear that the success of past generations cannot be reattained without first understanding the behavioral patterns and cultural mores that made them so. Future prosperity can only be achieved by looking to past eras of accomplishment and acknowledging the values that guided them. Moving forward with caution, preserving what is correct and functional while building gradually upon old foundations with new, carefully pondered ideas has always been the benchmark of Conservative thought. It is time we begin to remember and acknowledge the legacies left to us by our forefathers. It is time to acknowledge the important responsibility inherent in our Canadian citizenship and begin acting. And so too is it time to cast off the shackles of deluded, liberal thought, seemingly so popular today, and strike forth towards a rebirth, a new beginning for Canada. We must act and speak out to preserve our home and native land with fierce determination and unwavering conviction. If ‘War is too important to be left to the generals’ then so too are the political decisions being made too important to be left to the politicians. As Conservative citizens and individuals we have the responsibility to strive for the betterment of our country, to play a part in making the decisions that direct its future course.
