I’ve lived half of my life away from the place where I was born, and a third outside Venezuela. I still find habits I have conflict with, things that I unfortunately learned growing up. But, there are others, the good ones: I don’t rehearse them, I don’t plan them, they just wake up in my veins when sounds around me can be recognized by my ancestors.
They just happen.

The Cruz de Mayo (May Cross) is a vibrant, deeply rooted cultural and religious celebration in Venezuela observed throughout the month of May. It blends Catholic, Indigenous, and Afro-Venezuelan traditions to honor the Holy Cross, thank Mother Nature, and pray for abundant rain, bountiful harvests and other blessings as the wet season begins.

Thanks to for bringing this knowledge all the way here; wonderfully hosted by

Awareness…
Romance makes me aware, what a misfortune.
Aware of their eyes and flesh dancing on the sidewalk,
aware of the speaking voice stealing my attention,
aware of the pause and the silence that forces observation.
Observation makes me aware, and then I know more,
and then I like more,
and then and there, I want to stay.

I won’t lie, Cagliari didn’t win my heart, but it’s certainly worth visiting.
I suspect it might be more charming in the fall/winter.

However, I ate the best pizza I’ve probably had in my life.

I also noticed that people weren’t as loud. A local explained to me that people there are more reserved compared to cities like Rome or Florence.

Regardless, I had a good time. 😊

Btw, I went there for work, attending a science conference 🧪🥼

Performing with Serena is one of those cases where we don’t need to talk. Somehow our voices find their path together; they predict each other.
The walking was just a brief chat before going onstage and it felt like our bodies just knew what to do.

We wanted to end the song with the challenge of not looking at each other to end the phrase in sync, and I still get chills when seeing how it ended.
I remember people’s face when that happened too.

What a gift to the heart this show was, what a gift to my soul Serena is.

Sharing some good music with the family.
Onstage with

Luisa has a special stillness that drives attention in, she combines a good technique with good storytelling that doesn’t need much. She makes me think of those Latinamerican balladists from the 80s that all they needed was a microphone and a mic stand.

I’ve see many good singers in my life, but good storytellers are rather rare.
