#1 - Ian looking out across the Campbell Icefield toward Mount Freshfield.
#2 - Couloir side mission after we got skunked on our main objective for the day. Found some nice turns.
#3,4,5 - Pics from the Waitabit Lake Valley. This was a new to us zone and definitely worth the effort to get to.
#6 - Looking across the valley at our tracks from the previous day in “The Fridge.”

Day 3 at Campbell. We set off early for our seemingly annual attempt at Prior Peak. The weather was mostly unsettled with quite a bit of cloud. This made for a beautiful sunrise on top of Low Col, but ultimately wasn’t conducive for a summit. Our consolation prize was a nice long glacier run with a side adventure up a couloir for some nice powder turns. Third times the charm next year?

We got quite the show during our final night at the lodge last week. Taken around 2:30am on April 17. Even saw the local pine marten out enjoying things from his tree perch.

Plan C but still a fun day. My second time ever at Johnston Canyon. People seem to have graduated to pushing strollers up the path now 😅 Thanks for the shots

Second time climbing this one. Better quality ice, but much less cooperative weather this time around. First and second pics were taken on our way down. Third pic is a close up of our route, taken from the creek bed. Fourth shot is me starting out on the first pitch. Quite a noticeable change in weather throughout the day.

Skiing back to the car after the final ice climb of 2025. Taken on a random cut block in a remote corner of the province. Looking forward to more of this in 2026 😁

First ice lead of the 2026 season a few weekends ago. It was -19 when we pulled into the parking lot. We delayed, lost our spot in the queue and ended up walking further down the creek to check out some other climbs. It was even colder by the water so we walked back and snuck in a late afternoon lap on moonlight without having to wait in line 😀 Unfortunately, the cave is closed for renovations this year.

Sunday… Funday? We started the day in the rain. Then got soaked while climbing the second pitch. And finally, it was time for the air-dry process, as shown in the video. Turns out ice climbing in 65km/hr winds isn’t my favorite. But… never know till you try, right? 😁
As the sun sank, the winds died, and we enjoyed a relatively pleasant and cruisy ski back to the car. All in all, another great day in a very remote area.

Egypt
If you visit the pyramids and do not want a camel ride, do not talk to the camel ride people. This guy followed me around the whole time trying to get me to mount his camel. He then proceeded to get in a fight with another local for talking to me about riding HIS camel instead 😂
We went early and somehow ended up walking in with the pyramid staff. It was cool being one of the only people at the site. It was also much less sweaty climbing up the shafts inside the pyramids in the morning.
The way they piled up those massive stones is still a mystery to me no matter what we’re told. The carvings and inscriptions in the tombs are out-of-this-world detailed and intricate. Very impressive to see in person.
