New beginnings for Momentum’s Empowerment Coach Training programs | Momentum 10/02/2026

Since launching in 2022, Momentum has supported the growth of programs that help professionals bring a more empowering, trauma-informed approach to their work. Now, ‘Empowerment Coach Training’ and ‘Empowered Coaching Conversations for Leaders' are beginning a new chapter.

Created and facilitated by Selena Murillo, the programs are transitioning to her company, Integrative Connection, with Momentum continuing as a valued partner. Selena sat down with Momentum’s Brian Hill to talk about what she’s learned along the way and where she hopes to take the training next.

Dressed in their orange shirts, Momentum staff members participated today in the Ani to Pisi (Human Spider Web) project at Mount Royal University. The project - led by Momentum advisor Elder Roy Bear Chief - brings to life the Ani to pisi creation story from the Siksika Nation, where hundreds of people gather to create a "human" spider web and mimic the spider's vibrations along the web. The project is part of the university's Journey to Indigenization and Momentum staff members were proud to take part.

Immigrants are Brewing Good Things in Our Local Economy | Momentum 09/22/2026

When Christina moved to Canada, she brought with her dreams of building a business. But life in a new country wasn’t always easy, and she found herself juggling multiple gig jobs just to make ends meet. So, when she learned about our business programs she decided to sign up and commit to her dream.

Today, Christina is the proud owner of Xhale Brew Co., and she doesn’t just brew b**r. Xhale is a Certified Living Wage Employer and donates regularly to various community initiatives.

During the October 19th referendum, Albertans will be asked to share their views on immigration policies in the province. Here at Momentum, we believe that newcomers like Christina are helping to build Alberta’s future by creating opportunities, starting businesses and championing community. Read Christina’s story to learn more:

❤️ Thank you to everyone who came out to our Open House and Market yesterday to help us celebrate 35 years of work in the community! It was amazing to see our building filled to the brim with participants, partners, supporters and friends - and of course, the wonderful entrepreneurs who made up our lively marketplace.

Every purchase from a local business, every new connection and every conversation helps us build a stronger Calgary. Thank you for coming out, shopping local and celebrating this milestone with us. 🎉
