Whatโs important to you that requires planning, money, and time? We help our clients realize their dreams, preserve their legacies, and secure their futures.
Estate planning isn't just for the ultra-wealthy. It's for anyone who owns a home, has kids, or simply wants to make a hard time a little easier for the people they love.
In this episode of The Free Lunch Podcast, Colin Andrews and Blair Howell break down what estate planning actually looks like for everyday Canadian families, including the tax surprises most people don't see coming, why your beneficiary designations might be quietly working against you, and what Blair calls "the most important document you'll ever have."
As Blair puts it, estate planning is really an act of care. It's not about paperwork. It's about the people.

We're thrilled to welcome Trish Tetz to the Canvas Wealth team.
Trish brings something rare to wealth management: she and her family are the 4th generation on her husbandโs family farm, and she's spent over a decade helping Alberta's farmers and ranchers navigate the unique intersection of business growth, succession planning, and financial confidence.
She doesn't just understand the numbers, she understands what's at stake when the land, the legacy, and the livelihood are all tied together.
That's exactly what Canvas Wealth is built around. People who have lived the complexity they're helping clients plan through.
Welcome to the team, Trish. We're glad you're here.
What is likely to work in investing? According to Colin, it's the advice nobody gets excited about.
Stay diversified. Rebalance consistently. Cut your tax bill. Understand your own behavioural blind spots. None of it is glamorous, but the data generally backs it up.
Colin Andrews MBA CIMA and Greg Kraminsky get into all of it on this episode of The Free Lunch Podcast, including why "which stock should I buy" may be the wrong question.

Some private credit funds have recently faced redemption pressure, bringing renewed attention to liquidity risk in the asset class.
Colin Andrews MBA CIMA and Greg Kraminsky walk through what private credit is, why it grew rapidly after the 2008 financial crisis, and how the "illiquidity premiumโ works in practice on The Free Lunch Podcast.
If you've been hearing a lot about private credit lately and weren't totally sure what to make of it, this one is for you.

Colin Andrews MBA CIMA and Greg Kraminsky brought in one of the sharpest minds in fixed income to answer that question. Tony Crescenzi from PIMCO discusses the bond market like a supermarket with 150 trillion dollars worth of aisles, and explains why knowing which shelf to shop from could matter as much as anything else in your portfolio.
In this episode of The Free Lunch Podcast, they get into inflation thresholds, starting yields, global diversification and why active management tends to win in bonds in ways it often doesn't in stocks.

We always say wealth should serve your life, not the other way around.
That belief didn't come from a textbook. It came from real people with real stories, who chose this work because it matters.

Behind some of the most meaningful planning conversations we've had is a mother who quietly instilled this truth: the people you love are worth protecting.
Today, we have deep gratitude for every mother who planted that instinct in someone.
Happy Mother's Day!
That 12% yield might sound incredible. Until you find out what it is based on.
Structured notes are often marketed as the best of both worlds โ income, protection, and upside. But Colin Andrews and Greg Kraminsky argue you canโt have it all, and that the tradeoffs matter.
In this episode of The Free Lunch Podcast, they break down what structured notes are, how the payout is generated, and why keeping things simple may be a better fit for some investors.

We are excited to welcome Juan Leyton to the Canvas Wealth team this summer.
Juan is a fourth-year BBA Finance student at Mount Royal University and he's already shown us he means business. He brings experience from an Estates & Trust internship at Scotiabank, holds his CSC, and speaks English, Spanish, and French fluently.
That last part matters more than a credential. Wealth conversations are deeply personal. Being able to have them in someone's own language, that's a real skill.
Juan joins us with a curiosity about client experience that fits right in with how we think about this work. We're glad he's here.
Welcome to the team, Juan!

Volatility is uncomfortable, but it's not unprecedented.
Every major market downturn in history often has followed the same arc: sharp decline, stabilization, recovery, and new highs.
What actually derails long-term investors isn't the market itself. It's the decision to step out when fear is highest, and miss the recovery that follows.
If your portfolio has a purpose, short-term swings don't change the destination. They're just part of the journey. Swipe through for what history says about moments like this one.
