Looking to connect, learn, and create? Join us for a beautiful day of sharing, storytelling, and crafting at Westwinds Prairie Park!

Under the guidance of a talented Indigenous artist, you’ll have the opportunity to learn traditional techniques and create your own unique piece of jewelry.
This ethnocultural project is all about building bridges, sharing our diverse backgrounds, and learning from one another in an inclusive, welcoming space.

"Steps to Togetherness"

Regardless of the dark clouds and chilling wind, the neighborhood of Redstone came together to create an unforgettable warmth at FirstStep’s Neighbors’ Day & Father’s Day Celebration!

It was a beautiful mosaic of celebration and ethnocultural showcase, bringing together residents from 7 different countries to learn, share, express, and celebrate as one big community.

Highlights of the Day:

A Sacred Start: We began the event with a powerful Indigenous blessing and drumming, grounding us all in unity.

Cultural Performances: The crowd was mesmerized by the vibrant energy of Gidha and Bhangra from India, followed by a beautiful, traditional folk dance from Nepal!

Creativity Corner: A massive thank you to Calgary Tourism Tourism Calgary for providing the wonderful mural for our young participants to color! Kids also stayed busy at the active table making heartfelt, handmade gifts for Father’s Day and themselves.🎨

Warm Treats & Wild Energy: The cold weather actually favored us, making the hot tea and snacks taste even better! Meanwhile, a super friendly game of musical chairs gave everyone a massive adrenaline boost.

Celebrating Dads & Families: Kudos to all the brave kids who stepped up on the spot to dedicate sweet lines of gratitude and appreciation to their dads! Proving that age is just a number, our adults also took the mic to sing their hearts out for their families.

The Grand Finale: We wrapped up the day by cutting a celebration cake and the entire crowd joined in to dance the day away!
