Wildfire Updates - Sunday, May 24th

Following multiple new fires being reported yesterday, crews have made excellent progress in containment.

The Fort McMurray Forest Area saw 7 new fires reported yesterday. As of this morning, three fires have been extinguished, two fires remain classified as Out of Control, one fire is Being Held, and one is Under Control. All of these remaining fires are being reported at under one hectare in size so they may end up being extinguished at some point today.

In the Slave Lake Forest Area, one of the mew fires has been extinguished and one fire is now Being Held at 9.6 hectares.

The High Level Forest Area has just reported the 27 hectare HWF026 as Being Held following overnight suppression efforts from bulldozers and night vision crews. The other new fire in this area is also Being Held at 2.3 hectares.
