Molly and I are independent researchers teaching ourselves how to locate native bees. Est. 2020
Molly (Lee Creek Kennel's Little Miss Molly) is a German Shorthaired Pointer, initially trained to hunt birds. One day I had a thought, with a nose like Molly's, why couldn't we detect my favourite insect, bees? Since 2020 we've been on a mission, training ourselves to find bees with the goal of aiding in conservation of their habitat. Molly can now detect a single bee specimen (very little scent)

This year, I will be focusing on trying to get Molly to find native bee nests. What I need however is different environments where bees are found for her to practice in. So if you or someone you know has bees please send them our way!

With the lack of bees I saw last year, I can believe it.
Calgary is a food desert for wild bees.
