Bellissimo Custom Propellers

Yesterday, Scott Knowlton dropped off his Simitar that I will be making a master from. It's a 76 inch X 38 inch pitch.

Here are the pics taken so far of my new Propeller copying machine. This larger machine will be able to make the larger World War I propellers. Still a lot of work to be done.

So today, I started a new project. I'm welding together a frame for a new, longer propeller carver/duplicator. I have one side almost welded, but the 4 pieces are now too heavy for me to handle, I'll need to get some help to turn it over to finish the welding, then onto the second side. No pics yet, later on, when I have something worthwhile to show.

Final photo's of Patricia Jones-Bowman's propeller. It has 14 thin coats of Marine urethane finish, 10 were satin finish and 4 were gloss. All coats dried for 24 hours and sanded in-between layers.

Here are a few pics of Patricia Jones's propeller, free from it's end mooring, sanded, and ready for balancing. Not long now before it's ready for delivery.

Hello everyone, Just took out a blank, made of Maple from the press. I have the Master made and mounted on the copy machine. Today I'll drill a hole in the blank and mount it also on the machine. I'll be ready to start carving tomorrow (Tuesday).

Notification: In the near future I will be making a new propeller copying machine suitable for making large (very large) World War I propellers. I have received the first part of the machine ( the guts) and will shortly weld up a structure to hold this part. I will be able to make propellers up to 110 Inches long. I do not yet have any Masters to copy to make these WWI propellers. Stay tuned for progress PICS. If there is any interest please contact me.
