Get ready for one of the most exciting parts of the Paris Lions Maple Syrup Festival — our annual Brant County Line Dance Challenge!

This high-energy event within the festival brings together an estimated 100+ line dancers for an unforgettable morning of learning, dancing, and filming as we prepare our official submission for the International Line Dance Flash Mob — joining dancers from around the world!

🌎 What’s Happening?

Under the direction of award-winning choreographer and dance instructor Joan Minnery, alongside her World Dance Showdown Grand Champions — STOMPtastic, Brantford Line Dancing will lead the crowd through three featured dances:

• Everybody Dance
• Hoe Down
• Heel Toe Rodeo

These are the official dances being filmed worldwide — and we’ll be capturing OUR version right here in Brant County!

🎥 The completed video will be uploaded on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, alongside submissions from across the globe as part of the International Line Dance Flash Mob family.

💃 We’re Preparing in Advance!

In the weeks leading up to the event, our Monday and Wednesday night Brantford Line Dancing classes will focus on learning and polishing these three dances.

Our regular dancers won’t just be participants — they’ll act as assistant “teachers” on the big day, helping guide the large crowd that joins us every year. It truly becomes one big community dance floor!

We’re storming the upstairs stage at the Dunsdon Legion to help celebrate Joan Minnery’s 60th birthday bash — and we’re bringing the noise. This special appearance also features Dan Taylor, Bill Minnery, Joan Minnery, and special guest Brad Bridges.

SIVLE is recognized for their original recordings, crafted and produced in Brantford, alongside a vibrant medley of hits from legendary artists like Elvis, The Beatles, CCR, Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix. The band's sound is anchored by Joan Minnery's powerhouse vocals, Bill Minnery's lightning-fast guitar work, and Dan Taylor's rhythmic guitar, backup vocals, and piano. Their dedication and passion for music are matched by their deep respect for popular music's rich history and a profound appreciation for their fans, affectionately known as "the SIVLEization." The band's name itself, SIVLE, is a clever tribute to the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis, spelled backward, embodying his showmanship and relatability.

Recent Achievements & Performances

2024 and 2025 have been landmark years for SIVLE. They were crowned Brantford's Best Band in both 2024 and 2025 in the local Community Votes. They secured a contest win through CMCTV, which led to a 30-minute feature segment showcasing their original tunes, broadcast on CityTV in November 2024.

Internationally, SIVLE achieved an extraordinary feat by winning First Place in the International Band Single Category at the prestigious ISSA Awards in Atlanta, Georgia, in August 2024. Their song "SING IT LIKE PEARL," an homage to Janis Joplin, stood out among thousands of submissions from independent artists worldwide. Their entire album, "Bless This House," along with three original tunes, made it to the finals, garnering immense online support before being judged by an international panel.

SIVLE's performances have taken them to many spectacular stages, including the Woodstock summer street festival and, most recently, headlining the indoor entertainment at the Paris Fair in August 2025. They play around the province on a regular basis at many establishments.

🎸 SIVLE UPDATE & HOLIDAY ANNOUNCEMENT 🎄

Our SIVLE band has been on a short hiatus while Joan — our fearless leader — has been deep in training for the Line Dancing Convention in the U.S. And it paid off BIG!

Huge congratulations to Joan and her award-winning team STOMPtastic on bringing home 4 Gold Medals, 1 Silver, and the coveted Overall Grand Champions title at the 2025 World Dance Showdown in Indianapolis, IN. We’re incredibly proud of her and of our 17 amazing area friends who shared in the victory!

Now for the fun part…
SIVLE will be back on stage in 2026, returning with new energy, new shows, and plenty of appearances. Keep an eye out for a visit (or two!) from Uncle Bob, who’s sliding back into the fold, along with some special guest drummers — likely including our beloved Brad Bridges.

It was a thrill to have special guest Kat Grace on stage with us, and we are so proud of the overwhelming performances from every band member. You made it one of the greatest shows in our history.
