I’ll be opening the afternoon with a short solo set before ChromaDuo present a full program of duo works, followed by their masterclass later in the day.

ChromaDuo (Tracy Anne Smith and Rob MacDonald) are internationally touring artists with a long-standing musical partnership and a deeply expressive approach to the repertoire.

Their playing has a real clarity and warmth that I’ve long admired, so it’s a real pleasure to share the stage with them in Barrie!!

Looking forward to seeing some familiar and new faces there.

What a day at the Simcoe Guitar Festival!

Participants took part in workshops on guitar technique with Tim Beattie , improvisation with Joe Huron , and ensemble playing with Emma Rush , alongside one-to-one lessons with Tim, Joe, Emma, and Matthew McAllister throughout the day.

We had a full house at the concert, with Emma Rush and Matthew McAllister wowing our audience, and a wonderful performance by our festival guitar ensemble.

We wrapped up with a masterclass led by Matthew McAllister, where Ethan and Karen performed beautifully and observers gained valuable insights into performance and interpretation.

And this is just the beginning: we’re building a community around the guitar here in Simcoe County.
