Our capstone event, The Great Maya Mountain Expedition, was hosted at the beautiful Carmelita River Cabins. The kids had a truly magical time exploring everything the site had to offer, from canoeing and hiking to horseback riding and feeding the horses. Of course, the highlight was the river itself! Here is another photo dump to capture the highlights of this incredible experience.β›ΊπŸŒ³πŸŒΏπŸ¦…πŸŒΊπŸŒ»πŸš£πŸŠπŸŒ…πŸŒ„

To Our Volunteers: The Heart of the Mission 🀝🧑
They say it takes a village, but for the Maya Mountain Rangers, it takes a dedicated team of volunteers who show up with passion, patience, and a deep love for our planet. As we close this chapter, we want to say a huge thank you to our incredible volunteer team for their tireless work behind the scenes. From organizing complex missions to teaching the kids how to set up camera traps and navigate canoes, this journey would have been impossible without your commitment. We were honored to present our team with Recognition Awards during our stay at Carmelita Cabins to celebrate the amazing impact you've made. You are the backbone of this program, and we are forever grateful for your hard work and heart! πŸ₯‡πŸ™Œ

Mission Accomplished: The Rangers' Grand Finale! πŸ›‘οΈβ›Ί
What an unforgettable weekend! Our Maya Mountain Rangers officially wrapped up this chapter with an epic camping trip at River Cabins. From the sunrise over the river to the campfire at night, it was a weekend full of adventure, including horseback riding, canoeing, crafting dreamcatchers, and putting their skills to the test with snake and plant identification. The highlight was our Graduation Ceremony, where every Ranger stood tall to earn their well-deserved certificates and badges! A massive, heartfelt THANK YOU to the parents; your trust, your miles driven, and your constant encouragement made this entire journey possible. You aren't just parents; you are the support system that allows these young stewards to thrive and protect our beautiful Belize! πŸ‡§πŸ‡ΏπŸ’š

Mission 06: The Biologists Mission! πŸ›‘οΈπŸ”¬

Our Maya Mountain Rangers stepped into the boots of real field scientists for Mission 06! 🐾 We went deep into the reserve to master the art of wildlife monitoring.
The Rangers learned:
πŸ“Έ Tech in the Wild: The importance of camera traps for conservation.
πŸ› οΈ Field Setup: How to choose the right spot, mount the cameras, and test the sensors.
🌲 Habitat Lore: Exploring the secrets of the reserve itself.
A HUGE thank you to Mayawalk Tours for making this mission possible! πŸ›Άβœ¨

Mission 05: Earth’s Foundation πŸ—οΈβ›°οΈ

On Saturday, April 11th, the Maya Mountain Rangers dug deep into Earth’s Foundation! πŸͺ¨
Our Rangers turned into junior geologists for the day, mastering the art of rock identification. We spent the morning learning how to tell the difference between the various types of rocks that form our landscape, discovering that every stone has its own unique "ID card"! πŸ”πŸ’Ž
The highlight of the mission? A trek down to the waterside! 🌊 Our young stewards put their new skills to the test, scouring the banks to find the coolest specimens. From smooth river stones to hidden geological gems, it was a hands-on lesson in the building blocks of our world.
Another mission successfully completed! Our Rangers are officially one step closer to earning those badges! πŸ›‘οΈβ
