Knowing Your Rights Is The First Step!
At our Self-Advocacy Training, participants shared lived experiences of human rights violations, explored step-by-step guidance on accessing inclusive services, and reflected on why knowing and understanding our rights matters.
Self-advocacy starts with knowledge and grows when we know how to speak up, seek support, and claim our rights. 💪🏾

It’s not only Members of Parliament who caucus!
On Saturday, 12 September, we came together to do some caucusing of our own to strengthen solidarity, reflect honestly, and find ways to collaborate and build a stronger movement for equality and justice. ✊🏾🏳️🌈
The journey towards equality, including marriage equality, requires each stakeholder to play their part. We are stronger when we work together than when we work in silos. Because this journey is ours together.
We’re not free until everyone is free. An injustice to one is an injustice to all.
And the work doesn’t stop here. The next key moment is 22–23 October, when the main arguments in the marriage equality case will be heard. But beyond the courtroom, beyond hearings and rulings, the movement continues. Because lasting change requires all of us showing up, speaking up, supporting one another, and building together.
The caucus is over. The work continues.

United Against Hate. Building Safer Communities. Living Free, Living Well.
Maun, you showed up! 🙌🏽✨
On 8 September, we came together for the Living Free, Living Well Community Town Hall under the theme “United Against Hate: Building Safer Communities for All.”
From meaningful conversations on safety, hate-motivated violence, GBV, public health, SRHR, wellbeing and marriage equality, to the soft launch of Mokgosi, the day reminded us that building safer communities takes all of us.
We learned. We spoke. We shared. We connected. And most importantly, we began turning ideas into action.
A heartfelt thank you to every community member, partner, service provider, institution, leader and ally who contributed to making this space possible. Your voices, courage and commitment continue to drive the work.
Together, we keep building communities where everyone can live free, live well, and live with dignity.

Know Your Rights. Know Your Voice. Advocate for Yourself. ✊🏾
On 7 September 2026, LEGABIBO, in partnership with BONELA, convened a Self-Advocacy Training in Maun, creating a safe, participatory space for LGBTI+ community members to strengthen their knowledge, confidence and practical advocacy skills.
Through discussions, role plays, case studies and peer learning, participants explored their rights, setting boundaries, navigating institutions, responding to discrimination and knowing when to seek support.
The training also introduced Mokgosi, LEGABIBO’s Human Rights Violations Reporting & Case Management System, connecting self-advocacy with practical tools for documenting and reporting rights violations safely.
Self-advocacy is not about standing alone. It is about knowing your rights, using your voice, seeking support and building stronger communities together. 💪🏾🏳️🌈
