Traffic Advisory: Single Vehicle Collision in Southampton

Police are currently at the scene of a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a car on Middle Road, Southampton, in the vicinity of the area commonly known as Five Star Island.

Initial information suggests that the car was travelling in an easterly direction when the driver lost control and struck a roadside residence before veering off the road.

Neither the male driver nor his female passengers are reported to have sustained any injuries.

Traffic is currently being diverted around the area while police process the scene.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes where possible and exercise caution when travelling in the area.

đźš” POLICE WEEK 2026 IS ROLLING AHEAD FULL STEAM! đźš”

Yesterday was all about our little ones as officers and police staff from the Bermuda Police Service visited 11 preschools across the island, spending some quality time with our youngest community members.

There were plenty of smiles, laughter and excitement as the children played games, explored police vehicles and even got the chance to activate the flashing lights and sirens!

Our officers also shared stories from two of our brand new BPS children’s books, “Ethan Makes Good Choices” and “The Badge That Gave Me a Superpower.” Both books encourage children to embrace kindness, honesty, helping others and making good choices.

Of course, we couldn’t leave without a little something special! Each child received a treat bag filled with snacks and their very own custom BPS colouring book.

POLICE WEEK 2026.
Join us as we celebrate our officers, our history and our continued service to our beloved island home.

As we mark the event, Mr. Darrin Simons, Commissioner of Police, shared: "This week, the Bermuda Police Service marks 147 years of service to this Island. Police Week gives us a chance to pause, take stock of the work being done in our communities every day, and recognise the people who carry it out.

To the officers, Reserve officers and Support Staff of the BPS, thank you.

The work is demanding, the hours are long, and much of what you do goes unseen.

I see the commitment you bring to each shift, and I do not take it for granted. Your wellbeing matters to this organisation, and it matters to me.

I also want to acknowledge the families who stand behind our officers. Every missed dinner, late call and cancelled weekend is a sacrifice shared at home. Your support makes this service possible, and we are grateful for it.

During this week we will also remember those who served before us. Their example continues to shape who we are.

Policing in Bermuda works best as a partnership. I encourage residents to take part in this week's events, meet the officers who serve their neighbourhoods, and continue working with us to keep Bermuda safe.

Thank you to every member of the Bermuda Police Service, and to the community we are proud to serve.

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO MULTIPLE ARRESTS AND DRUG SEIZURE.

Around 1:25 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, police officers on mobile patrol, had cause to stop a motorcar travelling east along North Shore Road, Flatts Village, Smith’s.

Checks revealed the 31-year-old male motorcar driver was operating the vehicle while disqualified from driving.

He was arrested and transported to the Hamilton Police Station, where a search of his person led to the recovery of a large quantity of controlled drug.

The subject was further arrested for possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply.

The arrest of this individual resulted in the ex*****on of a warrant under the misuse of drugs act, at a Pembroke residence where more suspected controlled drugs were seized and a 40-year-old male, arrested.

Two other men aged 23 and 24, found at the residence, were arrested for outstanding warrants.

Inspector Roger Saints, of the Bermuda Police Service, Tactical Operations Unit, remarked: “We wish to thank members of the public for their patience and cooperation during any disruption to their weekend routine while officers effected these arrests.

“What might seem an inconvenience, is actually meant to ensure your safety. “

“Further, this particular matter once again highlights the importance and value of traffic stops. What began as a routine traffic operation, resulted in the seizure of a significant amount of illegal drugs.”
