Wèrè Ni A Fi Ń Wo Wèrè: Taye Currency Flops, Should Be Sanctioned for Disgraceful Coronation Performance
By Akeem Alao Babatunde
Musical performance at a high-profile event is meant to entertain, uplift and honour the mood of the occasion. It removes boredom, brings excitement and leaves lasting memories.
A seasoned musician should understand the context of the event, the caliber of the audience and the tone of songs that are appropriate.
Unfortunately, Taye Currency failed abysmally at the coronation of Olubadan.
His performance was not just uninspiring but downright unprofessional. Instead of delivering lyrics befitting the dignity of a first-class monarch and the presence of notable personalities, he chose carnival-styled lines that fit more with street miscreants than a royal ceremony.
This disgraceful display exposes how much he has lost his artistry, leaving many of his loyal fans disappointed and reconsidering alternatives like King Saheed Osupa Akorede.
Currency should know that it is incongruous to render graduation songs at a naming ceremony or funeral lyrics at a wedding. Yet, at this coronation, he stooped so low to render “Wèrè Ni A Fi Ń Wo Wèrè”—a grossly ill-matched choice. It was a betrayal of musical professionalism and cultural decency.
In truth, his stagecraft was so poor that even Portable would have fared better.
If Taye Currency still sees himself as a musician, he must be tested for competence because what he displayed was nothing short of a musical embarrassment.

A customer entered FCMB Bank at the Secrétariat, Oyo State, yesterday, went straight to the toilet, and locked himself in. From there, he climbed into the ceiling. When he noticed that all the staff had left, he came down and tried to hack the bank’s systems. He also locked himself inside.
This morning, when the bank staff arrived, they noticed the door was locked from the inside. They had to break it open to get in. That was when they discovered someone hiding on top of the ceiling. Immediately they turned on their systems, they started displaying: “Restarting, click OK to accept. ゚viralシfypシ゚
