Manab Kallyan Parished - MKP, Bangladesh; Under the “Ensuring People's Participation on Public Sector Management Policy of Covid 19 Situation in Northern Bangladesh” project in collaboration with The Asia Foundation has completed training activities on “Covid-19 and Right to Information” to enhance the skills of party members.
The main objective of the training was to achieve civil rights in the local public sector, increase transparency and accountability, and stop corruption in establishing good governance, including tackling COVID-19.
Through 20 batches, 200 women and 200 men i.e. a total of 400 people were trained in a participatory manner. Each 2-day training is conducted residentially at MKP's own training center. The training program is completed between September 6, 2021 and December 29, 2021. It is revealed that members of civil society groups and health committees formed under the project in 20 unions in 5 upazilas of Thakurgaon and Panchagarh districts participated in the trainings as trainees. In the meeting of 20 health committees formed in 20 unions under the project "Ensuring People's Participation on Public Sector Management Policy of Covid: 19 Situation in Northern Bangladesh" under the Implementation of Manab Kallyan Parished-MKP and supported by The Asia Foundation. Discussions are being held in phases. To date, the discussion session has been successfully completed in 13 unions. Negotiations in the remaining 07 unions are targeted to be completed by October 21.

A two-day training on Covid-19 and Right to Information was held on October 09 and 10, 2021 in collaboration with The Asia Foundation and managed by Manab Kallyan Parished-MKP. Members of the civil society group included in the project took part in the training.

On the occasion of the 75th birthday of Hon'ble Prime Minister of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, a mass immunization programme was organized by the Government of Bangladesh on September 28, 2021. Under the census, a target of 75 lakh doses of vaccination was set simultaneously across the country. In collaboration with The Asia Foundation, members of civil society groups, youth groups and health committees associated with the "Ensuring Peoples Participation on Public Sector Management Policy of COVID19 Situation in Northern Bangladesh" scheme of The Manab Kallyan Parished-MKP volunteered in the immunization programme. It is revealed that under the "Ensuring Peoples Participation on Public Sector Management Policy of COVID19 Situation in Northern Bangladesh" scheme, a room in each Union Council is being used as a Covid-19 information centre in the workplace. These information centres (in particular) are used for vaccination.

As part of the initiative and supervision of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the mass vaccination program was implemented on 07 September in Atwari Upazila. The program was inaugurated in the presence of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer. Under the “Ensuring Peoples Participation on Public Sector Management Policy of COVID19 Situation in Northern Bangladesh” funded by The Asia Foundation, Manab Kallyan Parished’s officials and volunteers carry out their activities by cooperating with the common people who come to get vaccinated all day long.

In order to build the capacity of partner NGOs on human rights, the donor organization The Asia Foundation organized an online training on human rights logframes on September 1. Rabiul Azam, Director, Manab Kallyan Parished-MKP, Thakurgaon, Mr. Sadequl Islam, Project Manager, and Rakiba Yasmin, Research Officer participated in the training. Former Chairman of Bangladesh Human Rights Commission Mr. Kazi Rezaul Haque has played the role of the main moderator in the training.

Three dedicated employees of the Manab Kallyan Parished-MKP (Project Officer Md. Ali Hossen, Assistant Officers Silvia Aktar and Rumina Akter) visited the Covid-19 Immunization Centre at Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital under the "Ensuring Peoples Participation on Public Sector Management Policy of COVID19 Situation in Northern Bangladesh" Project, which is being run in collaboration with The Asia Foundation. There they talked to people who came for vaccination, encouraged them to get vaccinated, guided them to follow hygiene. In order to increase the awareness among the people about vaccination, they also distributed leaflets published by the Manab Kallyan Parished on Immunization.

On Wednesday (August 25, 2021), a monthly discussion meeting was held at the Head Office of the Manab Kallyan Parished to determine what to do to prevent corona. The discussion was attended by all officials under the "Ensuring Peoples Participation on Public Sector Management Policy of COVID19 Situation in Northern Bangladesh" Program, including Mr. Rabiul Azam, honorary director of the Manab Kallyan Parished.

The workshop was organized by Manab Kallyan Parished and in collaboration with The Asia Foundation in Atwari Upazila, Panchagarh in the presence of senior government and non-government officials.

On August 11-12, 2021, Manab Kallyan Parished-MKP organized two-day training on “COVID-19 and RTI” for the members of the civil society Group formed at the union level under the “Ensuring Peoples Participation on Public Sector Management Policy of COVID19 Situation in Northern Bangladesh.” project. The training was conducted at MKP's training center. 20 members of the two unions of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazilla participated in the training
