One day, a man named Abu Umamah (RA) approached the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). He was eager to improve himself and wanted the Prophet’s guidance.

“O Messenger of Allah,” he asked, “tell me something that I should do.”

The Prophet (ﷺ) looked at him and simply said, “Fast, for there is nothing like it.”

Abu Umamah (RA) took these words to heart. From that day on, he made fasting a regular part of his life. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, and soon, fasting became second nature to him.

His wife would later say that they rarely had to cook during the day because he was always fasting. He found strength, patience, and a deep connection to Allah through it.

And so, a single piece of advice changed his life forever.
