The ACI Student Chapter - IUBAT is organizing a 3-day seminar titled “𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻”, conducted by Dr. Soumik Nafis Sadeek, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Master's Program.

The seminar aims to provide students with a foundational understanding of machine learning and its applications in solving real-world civil engineering problems.

This program is a complement to NEU’s first certificate (Low-Carbon Concrete: Qualification, Design, and Compliance) and provides comprehensive guidance on reducing the carbon footprint of concrete through strategic material selection, as well as design and construction strategies. It aims to provide the fundamental knowledge needed to understand the carbon footprints of concrete and cement, their lifecycle stages, and key strategies for reducing concrete’s carbon emissions, with particular emphasis on material selection considerations.

The program delivers thorough information and guidance on choosing low-carbon alternatives for both portland cement binder and other nonbinder materials, including their sources, properties, performance, carbon reduction benefits, limitations, and availability. It also introduces advanced design strategies for producing and placing low-carbon concrete, addresses key implementation challenges, and highlights specification and verification needs.

It was a great pleasure for the ACI Student Chapter – IUBAT to participate in the ARCUS Competition at United International University (UIU). It was an excellent program that provided students with valuable opportunities to learn, compete, collaborate, and experience real-world challenges in Civil Engineering.

We were especially honored to listen to Professor Dr. M. Shamim Z. Bosunia, Sir the Chief Guest of the program. His valuable insights and words of encouragement were truly inspiring for the participating students.

We were honored to have our respected faculty member, Dr. Noor Md Sadiqul Hasan Sir, join us during the program and serve as a member of the judging panel. His presence and valuable contribution made the event even more meaningful for us.

A special congratulations to team, “Dynamic Frames,” for becoming the Champion of the Seismic Competition! 🏆🎉 Your dedication, teamwork, and technical skills have made us proud.

Competitions like ARCUS are incredibly valuable for Civil Engineering students, as they bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application while developing problem-solving, teamwork, creativity, and engineering decision-making skills.
