CUET Computer Club

And with that, we've come to the end of the fest!

We honestly had no idea what to expect going in, but seeing so many of you stop by, take part in the challenges, and leave your feedback made the whole thing incredibly worthwhile. The response was better than we could've hoped for, and more than anything, we had a great time having you all around.

A sincere thank you to our teachers, every participant, and everyone who came by our stall. Whether you played a game, cheered someone on, shared a suggestion, or just stopped by to say hello, we're really glad you did.

And then there are the people who made all of this happen. To every volunteer and club member who put in the work over these long and tiring days, thank you. To those who handled things on the ground and kept everything running, and to those working behind the screens with all the planning, designing, organizing, and technical work, we couldn't have pulled this off without you.

This may be the end of this event, but it's definitely not the end of what we have planned. There's a lot more diversity, a lot more ideas, and hopefully a lot more opportunities to bring everyone together through our upcoming events.

চুয়েট কম্পিউটার ক্লাবের পক্ষ থেকে ২৪তম প্রতিষ্ঠাবার্ষিকীতে চুয়েট পরিবারের সকল সদস্যের প্রতি রইলো আন্তরিক শুভেচ্ছা ও অভিনন্দন।

The final day is your last chance to challenge your friends, chase those top spots, and get your hands on some prizes! So, remember to visit Stall #17 and give the challenges a shot if you missed them today.

⌨️ TYPE RUSH:
You'll be given a code snippet and 30 seconds to type it as quickly and accurately as possible. Speed matters, but so does precision.

🌍 GEO GUESSER:
You'll be placed in a random location using Google Street View. Explore your surroundings, look for visual clues such as roads, signs, buildings, landscapes, and landmarks, and use them to figure out where you are on the map. The closer your guess is to the actual location, the better your score.

⭕ PERFECT CIRCLE:
You'll have only a mouse to draw a circle as close to perfect as possible. You'll get 3 attempts, and your best score will count.

𝐆𝐨 𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲? 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐒𝐄 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐬

Somewhere around final year, the question starts following us everywhere. A friend gets an admit with full funding, and suddenly everyone is talking about GRE scores, IELTS dates, and how many professors they've emailed without a single reply. Someone else joins a good company here and seems perfectly content. And we sit in the middle, scrolling through both timelines, unsure which one we're supposed to want.

The problem is that we rarely get the full picture. We hear about the acceptance letters, almost never about the months of silence before them. We hear about stipends in dollars, almost never about what that number actually buys after rent. We hear "do a PhD," but nobody explains what five years of one really looks like from the inside.

So instead of guessing, we decided to ask someone who is living it right now.

Joining us in the next episode of "Bridging the Gap" is 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒚𝒍𝒂 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒏 Ma'am, Assistant Professor of CSE, CUET (currently on study leave), and a PhD candidate in the CIS Department at the University of Delaware. She has sat on both sides of this: as a teacher who has watched batch after batch of us wrestle with this decision, and as a student going through the applications, the funding hunt, and the move herself.

She'll talk about what actually strengthens an application, how funding really works, what the day-to-day of a PhD feels like, and how to honestly judge whether this path fits you, or whether staying is the better call.

After an exciting battle of mathematics and problem-solving, we finally have our Top 10!

A big congratulations to everyone who took on the challenge and gave it their best. Your participation and enthusiasm made the contest a great experience for all of us.

And to those who couldn’t make it to the leaderboard this time, don’t stop here. Every problem you solve is a step forward, and there’s always another challenge waiting.

With profound sorrow, CUET Computer Club mourns the tragic and untimely passing of Arnob Datta (CSE'24) and Shanto Deb (EEE'24).

Our deepest condolences go out to their families, friends, classmates, and loved ones.

May their souls find eternal peace.

With four different problem statements on the table, participants spent the evening building AI applications, prediction models, marketplace platforms, and automation workflows from the ground up. What stood out the most wasn't just the projects; it was the enthusiasm in the room. Seeing so many first-time participants dive in, ask questions, experiment, and build under pressure was exactly what BUILD@CUET set out to achieve. Everyone has to start somewhere, and we hope this gave our participants a genuine first taste of what hackathons are all about, along with the confidence to take on even bigger ones in the future.

A huge thank you to the MLH Community and Gemini for supporting the event. Most importantly, thank you to every participant who showed up, took on the challenge, and made the evening one to remember.
