This National Reconciliation Week, the Thiess Group proudly launched our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2026–2028 — a significant milestone as it is our first RAP incorporating all operating companies.
To mark the occasion, our Perth-based team came together at our Welshpool location, where we were honoured to welcome Walter McGuire, a proud Noongar man, to lead a Welcome to Country and traditional Smoking Ceremony.
We were also pleased to hear from our valued long-term partners and suppliers, including Darren Patten, Founder of Murlpirrmarra Connection, and Barron Bonney, Owner and Director at Yamarna Mining, who shared their perspectives on partnership and progress.
After the ceremony, we connected with Thiess Group colleagues across the country to celebrate this important milestone together.
Reconciliation is not something we do alone. It’s something we build together, every day, through how we work, lead and partner. We are all in.

Meet Caitlin, Leading Hand at the Gruyere Gold Project.
Following in her father’s footsteps, Caitlin began her career in mining with MACA on the graders. While she admits there were nerves at the start, it didn’t take long for her to realise the mining industry was where she belonged – and she hasn’t looked back since.
After completing her statutory supervisor course, Caitlin quickly progressed into a Leading Hand role. Her advice for success? Take every opportunity, work hard, and back yourself.

Adam James is a proud husband, father of two and MACA’s Production Leading Hand at the Karlawinda gold mine in Western Australia. Known to many as The Running Dad, AJ has always used running to stay fit but recently decided it needed to mean more.
AJ set himself an incredible challenge with a powerful purpose. On Thursday 30 April, he ran 101 kilometres in one day, making the journey from the Capricorn Roadhouse in Newman to the Karlawinda mine site village, all to raise funds and awareness for Dolly's Dream.
Inspired by his kids and driven by Dolly’s Dream’s message of kindness, AJ’s gruelling run over 13 hours and 20 minutes was all about helping to prevent bullying and building a safer, more compassionate world for young Australians.
This challenge wasn’t just a test of physical endurance. It showed real strength, resilience and a genuine commitment to making a positive difference for kids everywhere.
To date, AJ has raised more than $30,000 for Dolly’s Dream. This is an incredible result and a clear sign of the strong support behind this important cause.
If you’d like to show your support, donations can still be made via his fundraising page: https://bit.ly/3Plzx2A
Huge congratulations to AJ on an incredible effort. What an achievement, and such an inspiring way to make a real difference for Dolly’s Dream. 💙🏃♂️

To commemorate ANZAC Day, our sites came together to reflect on the courage, mateship, and resilience of those who have served and sacrificed.
The ANZAC spirit is deeply rooted across our Australia West operations – it drives the camaraderie and teamwork we demonstrate daily and inspires our connection to the work we do within our communities.
From dawn services to moments of quiet reflection, our teams united in paying respect to those who have shaped our nation’s history. We are proud to stand together, carrying forward the ANZAC spirit in all that we do.
Lest we forget.
